Te Akau Pukekohe Trials' Highlights


Te Akau trialled horses at Auckland Thoroughbred Racing's trials at Pukekohe, Tuesday 17 December -

Weather: cloudy, track: Soft5, rail: out 7 metres

Highlights included:


Heat 1 2YO 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, neck 46.1)

Quenza (2 f Almanzor – Bavella) – Craig Grylls; she was steadied rearward from a wide draw, she was asked to extend at the 200m, and trialled nicely given the short distance. 

Heat 2 2YO 800 metres (2 lengths, nose 45.4)

Summer In London (2 f Savabeel – Summer School) – Opie Bosson; she travelled three-wide near the pace and was given an easy time inside the final 200m, looking in very good order.

Heat 3 2YO 800 metres (¾ lengths, 3 ½ lengths 46.3)

Titahi Bay (2 f Spirit Of Boom – Aotearower) – Craig Grylls; she raced on terms outside the leader, gained the advantage nearing the 300m, and sustained a strong gallop to win her heat. 

Heat 4 2YO 800 metres (½ head, 2 ½ lengths 46.3)

Uptown (2 f Savabeel – Urban) – Craig Grylls; she improved near the rail and picked up well on the inner to finish an eye catching fourth. 

Heat 5 2YO 800 metres (1 ½ lengths, 2 ½ lengths 46.1)

Belle Du Monde (2 f Zoustar – Lady Cartier) – Opie Bosson; she travelled three-wide near the pace, levelled up nicely at the 250m point, and quickened to score stylishly. 

Heat 6 2YO 800 metres (½ head, 3 ¾ lengths 46.0)

Carsolio (2 c Bivouac – Whitehaven) – Opie Bosson; he was caught out from his wide gate, pushed out rounding the home turn, lengthened with a push at the 300m mark, and went on to win his trial in smart fashion. 

Heat 7 2YO 800 metres (½ length, 2 ¼ lengths 46.1)

Dare To Proisir (2 g Proisir – Hayle) – Opie Bosson; he was caught out from a wider gate, but he cornered well, and ran home strongly to also record a win. 

Heat 18 Maiden 800 metres (neck, ¾ lengths 46.4)

I Am Nutz (3 g I Am Invincible – Pecans) – Opie Bosson; he went forward to race quite keenly near the pace, levelled up to the leader at the 300m, and looked good in his action when finishing second. 

Heat 19 Maiden 800 metres (2 ½ lengths, ½ length 45.8)

Kansas Storm (3 f Savabeel – Kansas) – Craig Grylls; she raced quite keenly near the rail, but cornered well and quickened in good fashion for second. 

Heat 20 Maiden 800 metres (neck, 1 ¼ lengths 45.9)

Say You Love Me (3 f Savabeel – Lady Tatia) – Opie Bosson; she began well from the outside gate, was forced to travel four-wide turning for home, however went strongly to lead at the 250m and sustained a big effort to win well.
