Te Akau Riccarton Midweek Preview
Date: 11 Nov 2020
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 11 November at Riccarton.
Weather: overcast, track: Slow7, rail: true. No rain forecast.
1.07 p.m. R4 5 Lethal (4 g Savabeel - Katie Lee) - Danielle Johnson; ran home solidly from fourth to finish second in the Maiden 1400 metres on 29 October at Ashburton, and contests the $30,000 Maiden 1400 metres. His recent efforts have been solid and he should go well again from barrier two if appreciative of the slow conditions. Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.25.
3.29 p.m. R8 1 Supreme Khan (3 g Mongolian Khan - Angelica Hall) - Danielle Johnson; quickened clear to win as he liked, making it two from two in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 29 October at Ashburton. Considered for the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) here last Saturday, he instead contests the $30,000 3YO 1400 metres. Ideally drawn (1), he placed at the trials on slow and heavy footing and rates a top three chance if appreciative of conditions. Fixed odds: $2.30 & $1.30.
5.14 p.m. R11 13 Age of Fire (6 g Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Samantha Collett; was good through the line after being held up in the Open 1400 metres here on 24 October and steps up in the $230,000 Coupland's Bakeries Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m). Third to stable-mate Embellish (Savabeel) here in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and a Group 1 winner of the Levin Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m), he has been prepared with this race in mind and despite a non-threatening form line can race solidly if appreciative of conditions. Fixed odds: $21.00 & $5.25.
