Te Akau Riccarton Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Wednesday 10 November at Riccarton.

Weather: cloudy, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

4.04 p.m. R8 7 Summer Monsoon  (7 g Stratum - Princess Narine) - Opie Bosson; ran the fastest last 600m (33.0) on the day for second in Open 1200 metres on 18 September at Riccarton, and was similar again (34.8) winning the Open 1200 metres on 16 October at Ashburton. He understandably meets a strong field in $100,000 Lindauer Stewards' Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m), but races well on the course and brings good form to the event. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.40.

5.14 p.m. R10 4 Markus Aurelius (5 g Ghibellines - Evancho) - Opie Bosson; continued his good form with a strong second here in the Open 1400 metres on 23 October and contests the $230,000 Coupland's Bakeries Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m). The winner of six, with four seconds from 15 starts, including a hat-trick earlier in the year, he has a very good course record and rates a top four chance with luck from outside gate (14) - but has the right man aboard to mitigate that. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.

5.49 p.m. R11 6 Zouluminous  (5 m Zoustar - Luminous Harmony) - Danielle Johnson; was claimed near the line in a top run for second here in the Rating 74 1800 metres on 23 October and contests the $40,000 Rating 74 1800 metres. She is racing well and has first three claims with any luck from barrier 11. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.10.
