Te Akau Riccarton Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Wednesday 14 November at Riccarton.

As on Tuesday 13 November the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. Showers forecast Tuesday afternoon, no rain race day.

12.32 p.m. R1 16 Quattro Katie (3 f Zoustar - Kakakakatie) - Jason Laking; ran through the line strongly after trailing in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 4 November at Motukarara. Two starts ago, she finished recorded a solid third here in the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200m). In the $30,000 Maiden 1200 metres, she has the addition of visor blinkers and rates a top four chance with luck from a wide draw. Fixed odds: $14.00 & $4.50.

2.52 p.m. R5 10 Unfazed (5 m Zabeel - Faze) - Jason Laking; finished solidly for second in the Rating 72 1400 metres on 20 October at Ashburton, second-up from a spell, but lacked her finishing zest after racing too keenly here last Saturday in the Rating 72 1400 metres. With that run under her belt, she contests the $80,000 Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) and possesses the ability to rate a top five chance if able to race tractably. Fixed odds: $35.00 & $7.50.

3.29 p.m. R6 6 Remington (4 g Darci Brahma - Kudamm) - Opie Bosson; sprouted wings to win the Rating 72 1200 metres here on 27 October, making it three wins and four seconds from seven starts. Handily drawn (4) in the $30,000 Rating 82 1400 metres, he appears hard to beat in this field. Fixed odds: $1.60 & $1.10.

5.14 p.m. R9 5 Te Akau Shark (4 g Rip Van Winkle - Bak Da Chief) - Opie Bosson; made it two from two this time in, and four from five in total, when destroying his rivals with a scintillating finish in the Red Badge Spring Sprint (Gr. 3, 1400m) on 6 October at Hastings. All the rage for the $230,000 Coupland's Bakeries Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m), he finished fourth to stable-mate Embellish (Savabeel) in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) during Cup Week last year and should take a power of beating. Fixed odds: $1.45 & $1.04.

5.49 p.m. R10 1 Bak Da Master (4 g Mastercraftsman - Bak Da Princess) - Opie Bosson; just missed picking up the winner on 20 October in the Rating 65 2100 metres at Ashburton, having finished close up without a lot of room here in the Rating 65 2000 metres on 9 October. A real staying type, he should receive all favours from barrier one in the $30,000 Rating 65 2500 metres and again rates a solid each way chance. Fixed odds: $3.00 & $1.35.
