Te Akau Riccarton Preview
15 November, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Wednesday 15 November at Riccarton.
As on Tuesday 14 November the conditions were: overcast and Dead4, rail true. No rain forecast.
2.17 p.m. R5 6 Astrid (6 m Pins - Astralita) - Cameron Lammas; tracked up on the inner and closed solidly for second in the Rating 80 1335 metres on 2 November at Gore, and third up from a spell she contests the $30,000 Rating 85 1400 metres. In March at Te Rapa, she impressively won a Rating 85 1400m, beating the talented Go Nicholas (Danroad), running her last 600m in a slick 32.4, and despite drawing the outside barrier (9) can be competitive with a touch of luck. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.70.
2.52 p.m. R6 9 Our Abbadean (5 m Lookin At Lucky - Highland Lights) - Cameron Lammas; was nigh on the run of the meeting when charging through to almost claim stable-mate Royal Success (Savabeel) fresh-up in the Rating 85 1400 metres on 21 October at Rotorua, with Lammas aboard. Likely to get back from a wide draw (13) in the $80,000 Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), the prospect of a genuine pace can help her chances of racing into the finish. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.10.
