Te Akau Riccarton Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Thursday 2 May at Riccarton.

Riccarton:

Weather: showery, track: poly track, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12:51 p.m. R2 2 Time Is King (3 g Darci Brahma – Tiffany’s Time) – Ashvin Goindasamy; he finished seventh after an economical trip in the Maiden 1200 metres here on 13 April, and contests the $17,000 Maiden 1200 metres. He has drawn wide (10), but is provided with the opportunity to show improvement if appreciative of the poly track surface at his first attempt. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.45.

2:38 p.m. R5 4 Rue de Rivoli (3 f Tivaci – Boulevard) – Warren Kennedy; she produced an eye-catching fourth against a good field when resuming in the Rating 65 1230 metres on 17 April at Rotorua, and contests the $17,000 Entain – NZB Insurance Pearl Series Rating 65 Fillies & Mares 1400 metres (eligible $26,000 bonuses). She is ideally drawn (2) to rate a top three chance if she too handles the poly track at her first attempt. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $1.90.

3:09 p.m. R6 7 Inca Belle (4 m Per Incanto – Belle Vie) – Warren Kennedy; she fought hard for fourth after racing wide in the Rating 75 1600 metres here on 20 April, and contests the $17,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. Continuing to race consistently, she did well for third to subsequent stakes' winning stable-mate Sans Doute (Not A Single Doubt) in her first trial as two-year-old on the poly track at Cambridge, and looks to be a realistic top three chance. Fixed odds: $3.60 & $1.50.

4:19 p.m. R8 8 Valorious (3 g Heroic Valour – Maputo Express) – Warren Kennedy; he was unable to quicken after receiving a decent trip in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 24 April at Timaru, and drops in grade for the $17,000 Rating 60 1600 metres. He comfortably won on the poly track over 1200 metres when debuting here in December and is presented with an opportunity to improve if he can secure luck from his carpark alley (15). Fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.60.
