Te Akau Rotorua Friday Preview
11 April, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Friday 12 April at Rotorua.
As on Thursday 11 April the conditions were: overcast and Dead5, rail out 5 metres. 10mls rain forecast Thursday and no rain Friday.
1.55 p.m. R5 3 Rakuten (2 c Savabeel - Millililli) - Opie Bosson; looked good winning both his trials and debuts in the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series 2YO Maiden 1230 metres. A natural juvenile runner, with the pedigree to get over a trip, there is enough evidence in his family to suggest coping with some give in the ground and drawing away from the rail could prove an assist. He rates a top three chance.
4.17 p.m. R9 7 Witchery (4 m Savabeel - Now the World) - Opie Bosson; did well to make ground for fourth (last 600m 33.7) on a steady pace in the NZB Pearl Series Rating 65 1600 metres on 15 March at Te Aroha. Her prior three runs in this campaign all contained plenty of merit, including equal fastest last 600m (34.3) of the day when resuming at Avondale, and she rates a good chance from barrier one in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres.
4.47 p.m. R10 1 Jet Set (4 g Savabeel - Society Lady) - Craig Grylls; freshened (58 days) since finishing fifth in the Maiden 1600 metres at Te Aroha. His two prior starts saw him finding the line from well back over 1200 metres and running home solidly for third over 1400 metres. Drawn barrier three in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres, he receives an ideal opportunity to race well.
