Te Akau Rotorua Midweek Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has 13 horses racing on Wednesday 2 December at Rotorua.

Weather: fine, track: Slow9, rail: out 2.5 metres from 1300m to winning post, remainder out 1 metre. No rain forecast.

1.29 p.m. R3 10 Campionessa (3 f Contributer - Bella
Contributer) - Danielle Johnson; quickened down the outside to win stylishly at
the trials on 12 November at Ellerslie, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO
1215 metres. From an O'Reilly (Last Tycoon) mare that won three times to 1400
metres and handled give in the ground, she appears destined to step in distance
but shapes to race well fresh-up from barrier five. Fixed odds: $3.50 &
$1.30.

1.29 p.m. R3 16 Maid of Orleans (3 f Sacred Falls - Our
Joan of Arc) - Matt Cameron; began smartly and fought very well for third when
trialling on 5 November at Matamata, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1215
metres. Her dam, Our Joan of Arc (Beautiful Crown), won the Gimcrack Stakes
(Gr. 3, 1000m) on debut as a two-year-old at Randwick, and emulated two starts
later in the Maribyrnong Stakes (Listed, 1000m) at Flemington. Ideally drawn
(5), she seems capable of a bold first-up performance. Fixed odds: $11.00 &
$2.70.

1.29 p.m. R3 19 Speed of Light (3 f Proisir - Light
Source) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); displayed resolve off a wide run for fourth when
trialling on 16 November at Taupo, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1215
metres. Her grand-dam, Shadow Ray (Groom Dancer), left talented filly Jungle
Juice, the winner of five races from 1400m to 2100m and acted with give in the
ground. Drawn barrier eight, she is aided by weight relief to 51.5kgs. Fixed
odds: $12.00 & $2.90.

2.04 p.m. R4 5 Image of You (3 f Pins - Exactly Like
You) - Danielle Johnson; did well after covering plenty of extra ground to
finish fourth when trialling on 5 November at Matamata, and debuts in the
$10,000 Maiden 3YO 1215 metres. She coped with heavy going to win her first
trial as a two-year-old, while stakes winning grand-dam Glitzy (O'Reilly) acted
with give in the ground and won the Rotorua Stakes (Listed, 1400m). Fixed odds:
$5.00 & $1.90.

2.39 p.m. R5 2 Rakuten (4 g Savabeel - Millililli) - Matt Cameron; worked
off a wide gate and fought solidly in the Maiden 1230 metres here on 17
November and contests the $10,000 Maiden 1215 metres. Consistent as a rule, the
right trip from barrier seven can see him competitive. Fixed odds: $5.50 &
$2.15.

2.39 p.m. R5 4 Lightning Field (4 g Deep Field -
Claudine) - Danielle Johnson; was held up in the trail before surging into
second when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on 4 November at Avondale, and contests the $10,000
Maiden 1215 metres. He should go well again if appreciative of conditions. Fixed
odds: $2.90 & $1.40.

2.39 p.m. R5 6 Radegast (4 g Savabeel - Marveen) -
Michael McNab; freshened since debuting over 1200 metres behind subsequent
impressive winning stable-mate Entriviere (Tavistock) in September at Matamata,
he worked through strongly to win a trial on 12 November at Ellerslie. Resuming
in the $10,000 Maiden
1215 metres, he can prove competitive from barrier six if able to emulate. Fixed
odds: $16.00 & $4.00.

3.14 p.m. R6 11 Illusion of Paris (3 f Pure Champion -
Phantom of Paris) - Danielle Johnson; finished fifth after racing handily on
debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on 15 November at Waverley, and steps up in the
$10,000 Maiden 1560 metres where handling conditions will be paramount to her
chances. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.50.

3.49 p.m. R7 5 Shadow Warrior (4 g Shamoline Warrior - Baldaque) - Vinnie
Colgan; finished sixth after racing handily on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres
on 15 November at Waverley, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1560 metres. His
half-sister, Advent (Echoes of Heaven), was proficient on rain-affected going,
as too sire Shamoline Warrior (Shamardal). Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.95.

4.22 p.m. R8 1 Fabulous Flight (6 g I Am Invincible -
Court Flying) - Danielle Johnson; led before kicking clear with plenty of
stretch to win the Rating 74 1650 metres on 15 November at Waverley, and
remaining in the same grade - up 1.5kgs to carry 59.5kgs - he contests the
$11,000 Rating 74 1560 metres. First and third in two course attempts, each on
slow ground, he rates a top three chance despite drawing awkwardly (9). Fixed
odds: $6.00 & $2.20.

4.59 p.m. R9 4 Ginger Too (4 g Iffraaj - La Chiflota)
- Matt Cameron; resumed with a notable effort for third to impressive winning
stable-mate Entriviere (Tavistock) in the Rating 65 1300 metres on 14 October
at Tauranga, and finished belatedly after being shuffled back in the Rating 65
1400 metres on 15 November at Waverley. He has shown to handle give in the
ground and capable of a bold showing despite drawing wide (11) in the $15,000
Dunstan Stayers Qualifier (Rating 65, 1560m). Fixed odds: $4.40 & $1.75.

5.34 p.m. R10 4 Lucky Shark (4 g Darci Brahma -
Shamardal Luck) - Danielle Johnson; broke through at his third start, over 1300
metres at Taupo, and following two trials he resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65
1215 metres. He won a trial on heavy footing and capable of racing well
fresh-up. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.60.

5.34 p.m. R10 8 Scottish Star (5 m Bullbars - Highland
Lights) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); picked up well against the rail for second when
trialling on 12 November at Ellerslie, and resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65
1215 metres. A debut winner over 1200 metres, and placed three times in six
starts, she is a half-sister to former stable-mate Our Abbadean (Lookin at
Lucky), a dual Group 2 winner and twice Group 1 placed. She receives weight
relief to 53.5kgs and should go well if appreciative of conditions. Fixed odds:
$7.50 & $2.60.
