Te Akau Rotorua Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has seven horses entered on Wednesday 30 November at Rotorua.

Weather: fine, track: Heavy8, rail: out 4.5 metres 1200m - winning, reminder out 6.5 metres. 18mls rain forecast Wednesday.

12:28 p.m. R1 2 Prismatic (4 g Savabeel - Kaleidoscope) - Craig Grylls; he was shuffled back before running home strongly for a close second in the $14,000 Maiden 1950 metres here on 15 November and contests the corresponding event. He is racing solidly and rates a top three chance.

1:05 p.m. R2 5 Kai (4 m Ocean Park - Brilliant Blush) - Craig Grylls; she was held up before finding the line strongly for third in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 12 November at Tauranga, and contests the $14,000 Rating 65 1230 metres. She capped six seconds from seven starts with a stylish victory in the Maiden 1200 metres on 21 September at Matamata, given Heavy10 footing, which should stand by her on rain-affected footing.

2:15 p.m. R4 7 Our Milly Bee (3 f Merchant Navy - Rina Bettina) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); she found gaps with a solid finish for fifth in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 29 October at Matamata, and contests the $14,000 Maiden 3YO 1230 metres. While she is likely to get back from her wide draw (12), look for her finding the line strongly.

2:50 p.m. R5 3 Supreme Khan (5 g Mongolian Khan - Angelica Hall) - Niranjan Parmar (a2); he tailed a small field before circling with a sustained finish for third in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 18 November at New Plymouth, and contests the $14,000 Rating 75 1560 metres. With weight relief to 58kg, he should go well if appreciative of the course at his first attempt here.

4:39 p.m. R8 8 Safura (3 f Almanzor - Corsage) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); she ran home strongly for fourth in the Maiden 1400 metres here on 15 November and contests the $14,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Fillies & Mares 1560 metres (eligible $13,000 bonus). She also won a two-year-old trial here on Heavy8 going and rates a top three proposition despite drawing a wide (13) gate - one of two for the stable chasing the Pearl Bonus.

4:39 p.m. R8 11 Sternland (4 m Astern - Landslide) - Hakim Kamaruddin (a4); she was unable to quicken out of midfield on rain-affected heavy footing in the Pearl Series Maiden 1400 metres on 18 November at New Plymouth, and also contests the $14,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Fillies & Mares 1560 metres (eligible $13,000 bonus). She has weight relief to 53.5kg and provides the Singapore Champion Apprentice with his first ride in New Zealand.

5:14 p.m. R9 8 Patriarca (4 m Savabeel - Baby Shacks) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); she raced very well off a wide trip for second when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on 16 September at Taupo, before missing start in the Maiden 1400 metres on 8 October at Matamata, won by dual stakes' placed stable-mate Romancing The Moon (El Roca). She rolled home well in a trial on 3 November at Matamata, but is yet another stable starter that requires luck from a nasty barrier, drawn 14, in the $14,000 Maiden 1230 metres.
