Te Akau Rotorua Preview
11 April, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 12 April at Rotorua.
As on Tuesday 11 April the conditions were: drizzling and Slow7, rail out 2.5 metres. 6mls rain forecast Tuesday, 30mls race day.
12.38 p.m. R3 2 Aquilo (2 c Snitzel - My My Maree) - Opie Bosson; debuted in the $30,000 2YO 1200 metres on 14 January at Trentham, where not everything went according to plan, but he was back on track with a good trial win on 21 March at Matamata. Under a clever ride by Bosson, from the outside gate, he swept up wide on straightening and displayed a terrific turn of foot. At his only previous trial he beat subsequent dual winner Felton Road (Pins) and looks very competitive from barrier four in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 1230 metres.
1.13 p.m. R4 14 O'Know (4 m O'Reilly - Know All) - Opie Bosson; produced a tidy trial for second, with Bosson aboard, on 21 March at Matamata, and ready to resume off 210 days in the $10,000 Maiden 1230 metres. A big mare that has been patiently handled, she requires two defections to make field, but has the ability to make an impression if able to gain a start.
3.37 p.m. R8 10 Stolen Love (3 f Savabeel - Steal) - Opie Bosson; sustained a strong finish under hands and heels riding by Te Akau apprentice Jasmine Fawcett to win a 1000-metre trial on 21 March at Matamata, and resumes off 106 days in the $12,000 NZB Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1230 metres where she is eligible for the $11,500 bonus. She continued to improve in four starts leading up to Christmas, has done well for a break, and ideally drawn in barrier four to give a good account.
