Te Akau Rotorua Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Sunday 14 September at Arawa Park in Rotorua.

As of Friday morning, September 12, track conditions were Dead 6 with the rail out 4m and showery weather.

12:14 pm R1 1 Secret Whisper (6 g Align - Danewhisper) - Daniel Miller ; a winner of four races on the flat, placing second in his most recent effort at Matamata over 2000m on 27 August, presents fit and well for this assignment- his first over hurdles. Second in his only hurdle trial, he shows plenty of dash over fences and copes well in rain-effected footing. Apprentice Daniel Miller is aboard for regular schooling and gets the race day mount. He is also familiar with the Rotorua course and they should combine for an honest performance from barrier 1.

2:30 pm R5 7 Sunset Pass (6 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Daniel Miller; freshened after a couple of hurdle starts in June, he comes into this assignment with some weight relief under apprentice Daniel Miller and will carry 62kg. He faces well-seasoned horses in this rating band on Sunday, but has decent form on this course and the event will provide a nice springboard into a campaign over steeples.

3:04 pm R7 6 Bettorock (3 f Fastnet Rock - Astounded) - Matthew Cameron; showed talent and good racing manners in both her trials last month with a win and a second. She has drawn midfield and debuts over a suitable distance on Sunday if track conditions do not deteriorate further.
