Te Akau Rotorua Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the seven race programme on Wednesday 1 July at Rotorua.

As on Tuesday 30 June the conditions were: fine and Slow9, rail out 5 metres.

12.37 p.m. R1 2 Bettorock (3 f Fastnet Rock - Astounded) - Matt Cameron; resumes off 266 days in the Maiden Fillies & Mares 1230 metres, having trialled recently on heavy going at Avondale. In her second of two starts, she finished third to It's Bianca and Tavy, going left-handed over 1200 metres on Dead5 at Taupo, and brings the right sort of form to pose a threat.

2.22 p.m. R4 2 Scandinavian (3 g Dylan Thomas - Blanche Amelia) - Vinnie Colgan; worked home nicely from fifth to finish clearly in second on June 17 in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on Slow8 footing at Te Teko, and contests the Maiden 1200 metres. Growing in confidence and racing manners, he should again go well if able to secure cover from barrier nine.

3.32 p.m. R6 2 Prince Henry (3 g Henrythenavigator - Ocean of Tears) - Matt Cameron; resumes off 235 days in the Rating 65 1230 metres, having trialled nicely for fourth to open handicapper Barbaric recently on heavy going at Avondale. He scored on debut over 1200 metres at the start of the season on slow footing at Taupo, and has form around capable horses to prove competitive in a fresh state.

4.06 p.m. R7 2 Bon Marche (3 g Nom Du Jeu - Las Vegas Lass) - Cameron Lammas; resumes off 315 days in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. With this rider aboard he finished a close second in a recent trial on heavy footing at Avondale, and has trained on well since. He made a great fist of his only two-year-old start, finishing third on testing ground over 1000 metres at Te Aroha, and boasts the athleticism to give a good account fresh up.
