Te Akau Rotorua Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Sunday 11 October at Rotorua.

2:06 p.m. R2 3 Emma Twigg (4 m El Roca – Megara) – Hayley Hassman (a1); she ran the fastest last 600m (34.5) coming from last to finish second when resuming in the Rating 65 1050 metres on 16 September at Matamata, and contests the $40,000 Rating 65 1215 metres. She recorded a strong debut victory over 1150 metres and rates a top three chance from barrier six. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.75.

2:43 p.m. R3 12 Concurrence (3 c Tagaloa – Consensus) – Michael McNab; he circled widest for third when debuting in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 16 September at Matamata, and contests the $25,000 Maiden 1400 metres. Racing in the famous Yulong colours, he is by Group 1 Blue Diamond (1200m) winner Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa), out of the Group 1 Zabeel Classic (2000m) winner Consensus (Postponed), and this is a good opportunity for him to further improve. Fixed odds: $3.60 & $1.65. 

5:35 p.m. R8 4 Altari (5 g Savabeel – Bohemian Lily) – Hayley Hassman (a1); he was steadied for cover from an outside gate, positioned third into the straight and finished strongly for second in a trial here on 8 September. Resuming in the $40,000 Rating 75 1400 metres, he has been a dual winner in a fresh state to 1500 metres, and shapes to race well from barrier one. Fixed odds: $16.00 & $4.20.
