Date: 27 Oct 2022
Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Thursday 27 October at Rotorua.
Weather: cloudy, track: Soft7, rail: out 2.5 metres. Showers forecast.
2:47 p.m. R5 1 Boomer (4 g Iffraaj - Kate Cross) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); dashed home on wet ground to win a Maiden 1400 metres in June at Matamata, and finished back when resuming in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 8 October, won by subsequent Sarten Memorial (Gr. 2, 1400m) winning stable-mate Wild Night (Vanbrugh), both at Matamata. He receives the opportunity to improve in the $14,000 Rating 60 1400 metres.
2:47 p.m. R5 2 Luxembourg (4 g Burgundy - Miss Daphne) - Niranjan Parmar (a3); finished second after trailing in the Rating 60 1200 metres on 12 October at Avondale, and he steps up in the $14,000 Rating 60 1400 metres. He has the benefit of weight relief to 57kg and should race well again with a decent trip from barrier eight.
2:47 p.m. R5 5 Rip Van Gogh (5 g Rip Van Winkle - On the Move) - Lisa Allpress; improved with a third in the Rating 60 1300 metres on 16 September at Taupo, never threatened in the same race as Luxembourg (above) at Avondale, and has now the chance to improve in the $14,000 Rating 60 1400 metres if appreciative of the course at his first attempt.
4:04 p.m. R7 7 Luxuriant (5 m Iffraaj - Opulent) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); remained back in the Rating 65 1300 metres on 17 September at New Plymouth, won by subsequent winner Soldier Boy (Proisir). She has been given time (40 days) and contests the $14,000 Rating 65 1230 metres. She is ideally drawn (3) to show improvement.
