Te Akau Rotorua Tuesday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Tuesday 17 November at Rotorua.

Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: out 4.5 metres 1300m to winning post, remainder out 2.5 metres. No rain forecast.

12.12 p.m. R2 4 High Achiever (4 g Pins - Thee Achiever) - Opie Bosson; made it two from two when resuming over 1200 metres in September at Taupo - running quick 600-metre sectionals in both wins (34.5 and 34.4), before charging home late from last to finish fourth in the Rating 74 1200 metres on 10 October at Matamata. He lost a shoe and held up late in the Rating 74 1400 metres on 28 October at Te Aroha, and rates a top three chance, with blinkers on, despite drawing the outside gate (11) in the $11,000 Rating 74 1400 metres.

12.47 p.m. R3 3 Secret Amour  (4 m Niagara - My Secret) - Opie Bosson; brought strong form to the Maiden 1400 metres on Melbourne Cup Day (3 Nov.) at Ellerslie, dashing home late for a nose margin defeat and running equal fastest last 600m (33.2) on the day. She appears a strong chance to break through in the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Fillies & Mares Maiden 1400 metres.

1.22 p.m. R4 11 Melodious (3 f Darci Brahma - Quintette) - Danielle Johnson; made up a stack of ground from last to finish fourth in the Maiden 1200 metres on 14 October at Tauranga, and closed strongly after clearing traffic in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres on 28 October at Te Aroha. A similar effort would see top three prospects in the corresponding event.

1.57 p.m. R5 12 Wishing Well  (3 f Charm Spirit - Starwish) - Danielle Johnson; kept going solidly for a close third when trialling on 27 October at Taupo, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 1230 metres. From the second crop of triple Group 1 winner Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit), out of a Redoute's Choice mare that has left five winners of 15 races - 1000m - 1400m.
