Te Akau Rotorua Tuesday Preview
Date: 16 Nov 2021
Te Akau Racing has nine horses entered on Tuesday 16 November at Rotorua.
Weather: overcast, track: Dead5, rail: out 2 metres from 900m - 300m, remainder true. 6mls rain forecast Tuesday.
1.02 p.m. R1 6 Ragamuffin (3 g Belardo - Short Tale) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); finished close for the minors when fifth on debut in a Maiden 3YO 1000 metres on 28 October at Te Aroha, and should appreciate step up in $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres. He requires luck from the tricky barrier 10, the first of three in the race for the stable. Fixed odds: $31.00 & $6.00.
1.02 p.m. R1 10 Madame Moet (4 m Iffraaj - Champagne Katie) - Opie Bosson; was notable when finishing fourth in both starts before spelling, and circled widest with a big run for third when trialling on 4 November at Matamata. She also requires luck from barrier 9, resuming in the $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.70.
1.02 p.m. R1 16 Nossenko (3 f Savabeel - Vera de Bosset) - Craig Grylls; maintained strong gallop off a wide trip for a close second when trialling on 4 November at Matamata, and she debuts in the $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres. Her dam, Vera de Bosset (Stravinsky), won twice over 1200 metres, and she shapes to race well with any luck from yet another awkward draw (12) for our trio in this. Fixed odds: $26.00 & $6.00.
1.37 p.m. R2 1 Burgundy Rose (5 m Burgundy - Paraiba) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); knuckled down soon after the start when resuming in a Rating 74 1000 metres on 6 October at Taupo, before posting a solid fourth in a Rating 74 1200 metres on 28 October at Te Aroha. With weight relief to 58kg, she rates a top three chance in the $12,000 Rating 74 1200 metres, a race with two stable runners engaged. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.60.
1.37 p.m. R2 3 Excitonic (5 g Savabeel - Bint Piavonic) - Opie Bosson; gave Te Akau apprentice Niranjan Parmar his first win when delivering fresh-up in a Rating 65 1200 metres on 25 October at Te Rapa. Up in grade for the $12,000 Rating 74 1200 metres, he recorded an emphatic second-up Maiden win here over 1400 metres with Bosson aboard and looks a top three prospect. Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.25.
2.12 p.m. R3 5 Felicienne (4 m Savabeel - Flavigny) - Opie Bosson; recorded three seconds and a third from six starts in strong fields, finished strongly for close fourth when trialling on 4 November at Matamata, and resumes in $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres. She brings right form to threaten fresh-up - the first of a Te Akau trio lining up in this event. Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.40.
2.12 p.m. R3 12 Leica Star (3 f Highly Recommended - Leica Glory) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); made ground from the rear when finishing fourth on debut in a Maiden 1200 metres on 17 September at Taupo, and since ran on well without pressure for third at the trials on 4 November at Matamata. In the $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres, look for her getting home with any luck in the running and a decent trip from barrier 10. Fixed odds: $14.00 & $3.80.
2.12 p.m. R3 14 Pisco Sour (3 f I Am Invincible - Refreshing) - Craig Grylls; checked back and did well closing for a notable fifth to stable-mate Mohawk Brave (Extreme Choice) when debuting in a Maiden 3YO 1000 metres on 28 October at Te Aroha, and contests $12,000 Maiden 1215 metres. She has the credentials to race well with luck from barrier 11 (is there a barrier theme here?). Fixed odds: $15.00 & $4.00.
3.57 p.m. R6 10 Outfit (3 f Tivaci - Costume) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); debuted with a top run for third to subsequent winner La Bella Beals (Star Turn) in a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 20 October at Tauranga, overcoming an outside gate (12), and she steps up in the $12,000 Maiden 1400 metres. From dual Group 1 winner Costume (Savabeel), who was impressive from 1400m - 2000m, she has weight relief to 53kg and will be competitive with the right trip from another awkward draw (9). Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.35.
