Date: 18 Jun 2021
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 19 June at Ruakaka.
Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 2 metres from 900m to 400m, remainder true. 8mls rain forecast overnight Friday.
11.30 a.m. R1 7 Highborn (3 f Savabeel - Tempo Manor) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); was shuffled back before rounding off solidly in the Pearl Series Maiden 1300 metres won by stable-mate Tauparae (Savabeel) on 2 June at Cambridge. Drawn barrier six, weight relief to 53.5kg, she rates a top four chance in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.40.
3.32 p.m. R8 6 Burgundy Rose (4 m Burgundy - Paraiba) - Niranjan Parmar (a4); missed the start and fought well for fifth after a tough run when resuming in the Open 1100 metres on 29 May at Ellerslie. Runner-up here on debut as a two-year-old, she carries 53kg and should race well with a clean getaway in the $32,500 Open 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.15.
4.07 p.m. R9 1 Excitonic (4 g Savabeel - Bint Piavonic) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); benefitted from a well judged ride by Opie Bosson to win the Rating 65 1400 metres here on 5 April, before finishing fourth in the corresponding event on 26 May at Hastings. Claiming to 56.5kg, he rates top four in a good field for the $22,500 Rating 65 1600 metres. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.
