Te Akau Taranaki Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race twilight programme on Friday 5 February at New Plymouth.

As on Thursday 4 February the conditions were: cloudy and Dead4, rail out 11 metres. There is 5mls of rain forecast on race day.

3.20 p.m. R1 2 Vive La Difference (4 m Choisir - L'Artiste) - Matt Cameron; steps up in distance after having little chance of finishing closer, given the tempo, in the $25,000 Rating 85 1600 metres on January 16 at Tauranga. Three starts ago she won a Rating 85 1800 metres at Riccarton. She is expected to dispute favouritism and prove very competitive in a field of only five for Rating 85 1818 metres.

7.08 p.m. R8 3 Osmunda (5 m O'Reilly - Wyndam Special) - Matt Cameron; worked home for fifth behind subsequent smart winner Heavens Keep (Savabeel) on January 14 in the Rating 65 1600 metres at Wanganui. From barrier one, she appears a top three chance in the Rating 65 1818 metres where Predator (Savabeel) appears hardest to beat.

7.08 p.m. R8 7 Tavis Star (4 m Tavistock - Megapins) - Leah Hemi (a2); worked through tight quarters for fifth on January 15 in the Rating 75 2000 metres at Matamata, and drops in class for the Rating 65 1818 metres. She has weight relief to 56.5kgs, would appreciate any cut in the track and rates a genuine each way chance.
