5.00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 3.00 p.m. (Vic) R5 2 West Indies (3 g Fastnet Rock – Anchovy, by Galileo) – Craig Newitt; he quickened to an advantage, after trailing, and won the Benchmark 58 2200 metres on 21 July at Bairnsdale very well, also with Newitt aboard. Today he contests the A$35,000 Benchmark 64 2238 metres, and while he carries 61kg, he did have a 62kg impost when winning last start. He has shown that he can handle some give in the ground and he looks a top three prospect. NZ TAB fixed odds: $3.90 & $1.65.
