Te Akau Sale Tuesday Preview
25 February, 2025
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Tuesday 25 February at Sale (Victoria).
Sale:
Weather: overcast, track: Soft5, rail: out 6 metres. No rain forecast.
4:00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 2:00 p.m. (VIC) R2 12 Esternay (3 f All Too Hard – Sezanne) – Michael Dee; she quickened following a nice trip behind the leaders to win a jump out on 17 February at Cranbourne, and resumes in the A$27,000 Maiden 1210 metres where she requires luck from a wide draw (12). Her dam Sezanne (More Than Ready) won twice to 1250 metres in Australia, leaving Joiselle (Snitzel), the winner of three from four starts to 1200 metres, and her grand-dam Champagne Harmony (Choisir) was a Group Two winning sprinter. She certainly has breeding certainly on her side, being from the family of Champion mare Champagne (Zabeel). NZ TAB fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.85.
6:00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 4:00 p.m. (VIC) R6 1 Dreamflight (6 g Frankel – Dream Peace) – Sage Duric (a3); he kept closing to finish fifth in the Benchmark 74 1600 metres on 22 January at Mornington, and went through the line solidly for fourth in a jump out on 10 February at Cranbourne. Contesting the A$27,000 Benchmark 64 1740 metres, the apprentice engagement brings weight relief to 61kg. He was a Group Three and Listed winner over 1600 metres in France before coming to Australia, is having his second start for the stable, and shapes to race competitively from barrier four. NZ TAB fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.20.
6:30 p.m. (NZ) ~ 4:30 p.m. (VIC) R7 3 The Victress (3 f Zousain – Liesele) – Sage Duric (a3); she remained back when resuming in the Benchmark 64 1000 metres on 7 February at Moonee Valley, and contests the A$27,000 Benchmark 64 1010 metres. Again with the stable apprentice aboard, the well bred filly enjoys weight relief to 57kg, recorded both her career wins over 1000 metres, and has the ability to prove competitive if she can secure a decent trip from the outside gate (9). Fixed odds: $19.00 & $3.40.
