Te Akau Sandown Midweek Preview
10 December, 2025
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Wednesday 10 December at Sandown (Melbourne).
Sandown:
Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.
5:40 p.m. (NZ) - 3:40 p.m. (Vic) R1 2 Astari (3 g Starspangledbanner – Belzella) – Craig Williams; he sustained a strong finish to win when resuming in the Maiden 1100 metres on 1 November at Traralgon, and ran home gamely from last in small field for second in the Benchmark 64 3YO 1200 metres on 21 November at Pakenham. Contesting the A$55,000 Benchmark 64 3YO 1200 metres, it is a race full now good form, he’s perfectly drawn (3) to prove competitive, and has one of the best in the business aboard. NZ TAB fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.20.
6:15 p.m. (NZ) - 4:15 p.m. (Vic) R2 8 May Be Bubbles (3 f Lonhro – Tracy May) – Michael Dee; she held her spot when finishing fifth on debut in the Maiden 1115 metres on 18 November at Kyneton, also with Dee aboard, and contests the A$55,000 Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200 metres. She won a trial on 30 October at Caulfield, and looks well placed to improve if the former Te Akau apprentice can secure a decent trip from barrier eight. NZ TAB fixed odds: $41.00 & $7.50.
9.00 p.m. (NZ) - 7:00 p.m. (Vic) R7 10 Exuberance (4 m Savabeel – Miss Opulence) – Craig Williams; she wound up late after being shuffled back in the Benchmark 62 1107 metres on 14 November at Geelong, and contests the A$55,000 Benchmark 66 Fillies & Mares 1200 metres. She staged a big run to place on debut before winning Maiden over 1200 metres, competed in Group Two and Listed races over 1400 metres last season, and possesses the ability to prove competitive with a good dose of good fortune from the outside draw (16). NZ TAB fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.20.
