Te Akau Saturday North Island Preview

Te Akau Racing has seven horses entered on Saturday 27 November: Te Aroha, and Wanganui.

Te Aroha:

Weather: cloudy, track: Dead6, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12.30 p.m. R1 3 Accidental Tourist  (2 g Telperion - Megara) - Kozzi Asano; finished strongly for second at the trials on 4 November at Matamata, and debuts in the $20,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres. A half-brother to Newmarket Handicap (Listed, 1200m) winner Red Striker (Red Giant), he shapes to race well from barrier one - the first of three in the race for the stable.  Fixed odds: $10.00 & $2.50.

12.30 p.m. R1 10 Grace ‘N' Grey (2 f Spirit of Boom - Gracious Grey) - Michael McNab; drew out to win at the trials on 15 November at Taupo, and also debuts in the $20,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres. By Champion Queensland Sire Spirit of Boom (Sequalo), from a mare by Champion Sire and Champion Broodmare Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill), she requires luck from barrier nine. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.60.

12.30 p.m. R1 11 I Choose You  (2 f I Am Invincible - Choose) - Danielle Johnson; found another gear for a strong win at trials on 4 November at Matamata, and is the third debutante for the stable in the $20,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres. She is a daughter of Champion Australian Sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), from six-time winner (1200 - 1400m) Choose, by New Zealand bred stallion Starcraft (Soviet Star). She has the pace to negate barrier eight and should race well if she settles. Fixed odds: $2.40 & $1.30.

1.35 p.m. R3 14 Ifyourample (3 f Iffraaj - More than Adequate) - Danielle Johnson; produced a notable effort for fourth in her sole juvenile start, ran on for fourth at the trials on 4 November at Matamata, and resumes in the $15,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She requires luck from draw (15). Fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.50.

Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: true. No rain forecast.

1.20 p.m. R2 1 Avonallo (3 g Belardo - Real Angel) - Leah Hemi; won the Welcome Stakes (Listed, 1000m) and was third to stable-mate On The Bubble (Brazen Beau) in the Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) last season. Given time (29 days) since failing to handle slow footing when resuming in a Rating 65 1100 metres at Hawera, he has the chance to bounce back with any luck from his carpark draw (13) in the $30,000 3YO 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.90.

1.54 p.m. R3 6 Lisheen (4 m Pins - Invermoray) - Lisa Allpress; overcame an awkward draw (10) on debut when winning a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres in March at Te Aroha. She misbehaved in the gates when resuming on 1 October at Te Rapa, but turned that around with a smart win at trials on 15 November at Taupo. She rates a top three chance in the $30,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $2.70 & $1.35.

3.38 p.m. R6 1 Aotea Lad  (5 g Savabeel - Corsage) - Niranjan Parmar (a4); ran the fastest last 600m (34.8) getting home for second in a Rating 74 1300 metres on 17 October at Rotorua, and was fourth off a wide trip in a Rating 74 1600 metres. With weight relief to 57.5kg, he rates a top three prospect from barrier
