Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on 28 December: Matamata, and Timaru.









Matamata:





Weather: cloudy, track: Dead6, rail: out 7 metres. No rain forecast.





12.47 p.m. R2 2 Yourpoint (2 g Bull Point - Dollhouse) - Opie Bosson; trialled well to finish first, second, and third, respectively, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 1200 metres. By a son of Champion sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill), his dam, Dollhouse, by Snitzel (Redoute's Choice), won three races to 1200 metres in Australia, from the family of NZ Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Rockabubble (Bubble Gum Fellow).





2.32 p.m. R5 8 Kylie Bax (4 m Pentire - Platinum Blond) -Michael McNab; dictated terms with an emphatic fresh-up victory over 1200 metres in October at Taupo, but not quite the same in her two subsequent outings. She receives an opportunity to show improvement in the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres.













Timaru:





Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: true. No rain forecast.





12.29 p.m. R1 10 Xplosion (3 f Showcasing - Xpress) - Samantha Wynne; freshened since a spring campaign that included fifth in the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200 metres). She trialled well on 9 December at Riccarton, and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres. A sister to Wakefield Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) and Barneswood Farm Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) winner Xpression, who also finished third in the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), she appears ideally placed to prove competitive.
