Ruakaka:

4.25 p.m. R8 5 Shebringsmerubies (5 m Sebring - Run Away Ruby) - Joe Kamaruddin (a3); produced another genuine performance from the trail for second in the $22,500 Rating 65 2100 metres on 10 July at Te Rapa, and contests the corresponding event. She rates an each-way chance from barrier eight, if appreciative of the course at her first attempt. Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.30.

Riccarton:

Weather: showery, track: Heavy11, rail: true. Showers forecast.

12.35 p.m. R3 3 Bak Da Master (6 g Mastercraftsman - Bak Da Princess) - Michael Roustoby (a2); finished second in the Waikato Hurdle (Prestige, 3200m), fell at the second last in the Hawkes Bay Hurdle (Prestige, 3200m), and fifth in the Wellington Hurdle (Prestige, 3100m) last time out. Now over bigger fences in the $15,000 Maiden Steeplechase, much will depend on appreciation of very testing ground. Fixed odds: $3.20 & $1.35.
