Te Akau Saturday NZ & Sydney Preview
7 April, 2018
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Saturday: Te Aroha, and Royal Randwick.
Te Aroha:
As on Friday 6 April the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.
5.00 p.m. R9 2 Chadsdale (6 g Castledale - Geeiliani) - Danielle Johnson; had looked good at the trials before resuming here on 16 March with a courageous win from a wide draw in the Rating 65 1200 metres. Competitive previously up in grade, he contests the $25,000 Rating 75 1400 metres and such is luck has again drawn wide (14). He carried 60kgs last time and now shouldered with 58kgs to rate an each way chance in an even field. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.90.
5.00 p.m. R9 4 Unfazed (4 m Zabeel - Fazed) - Michael McNab; was also a last start winner, in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 17 March at Rotorua, where she too was unflinching off a wide run. Contesting the corresponding event, up 2.5kgs to carry 57.5kgs, she is yet to place in two course attempts but aided by barrier one and racing very well. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.35.
Royal Randwick, Sydney:
As on Friday 6 April the conditions were: fine and Good4, rail true. No rain forecast and 25 degrees.
5.10 p.m. (NZ time) R7 4 Mongolianconqueror (3 g Ocean Park - Queen Rania) - Opie Bosson; has drawn nicely (6) in the $2m Australian Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m). After finishing second in a head bobbing finish with race rival Vin De Dance (Roc de Cambes) in the $1m New Zealand Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) on 3 March at Ellerslie, he negated the outside barrier quite well to settle three wide with cover just beyond midfield and kept finding the line to finish in a line up for the minors and 3.2 lengths from the winner in the $600,000 Rosehill Guineas (Gr. 1, 2000m) a fortnight ago. Good footing suits and he appears a live chance in a great race. Fixed odds: $12.00 & $3.80 NZ TAB.
