Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Saturday 9 February: Te Rapa, and Riccarton.

Te Rapa:

As on Friday 8 February the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 5 metres. No rain forecast.

12.25 p.m. R1 8 Harlow (2 f Proisir - Joan's Girl) - Matt Cameron; debuts in the
$30,000 2YO 1200 metres, sponsored by Te Akau Racing - Three Times Karaka
Million Winner. Consistent at the trials with two thirds and a second, patient
riding from the outside gate (8) should see her rounding off solidly. Fixed
odds: $6.50 & $2.10.

2.10 p.m. R4 5 Savy Yong Blonk (3 f Savabeel - Ampin)
- Michael Rodd; followed consecutive wins with a notable midfield finish in the
Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) on 19 January at Trentham, won by race rival
Secret Allure (Zacinto), and contests the $100,000 Cambridge Stud Sir Tristram
Fillies Classic (Gr. 2, 2000m). Appreciating a step in distance is crucial, and
she has the services of a top international rider. Fixed odds: $12.00 & $3.60.

4.30 p.m. R8 8 Melody Belle (4 m Commands - Meleka Belle) - Troy Harris; staged a massive run for third from a wide draw in the Railway (Gr. 1, 1200m) on 1 January at Ellerslie, but never fired in the Telegraph (Gr. 1, 1200m) on 19 January at Trentham. The Karaka Million (Restricted Listed, 1200m) winner and Champion Two-Year-Old of her year, with three Group One victories, she has pleased the rider in work and ideally drawn (2) to bounce back in the $200,000 BCD Group Sprint (Gr. 1, 1400m). Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.34.

Riccarton:

As on Friday 8 February the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail true. No rain forecast.

1.50 p.m. R3 5 Vino
Bella (2 f Burgundy - Pinstinct) - Dylan Turner; followed second at
the trials on 8 January at Cambridge, finishing close up in third here on 26
January in the NZB Pearl Series 2YO 800 metres. Drawn barrier six in the
$22,500 NZB Pearl Series 2YO 1000 metres (eligible $8,000 bonus), she strikes a
similar field, including the two that finished ahead of her last time, and
rates an each way chance. Fixed odds: $4.40 & $1.60.
