Course proper (Dead4):

Preparing for the $750,000 NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) next Saturday, March 1, at Ellerslie, King Savinsky (Misbah) and Spellbinder (Hercock) worked over ground to cover the last 1200 metres in 1:14.2, 1000m in 1:01.2, last 600m in 34.7.

Plough:

Tiara (Hercock) worked over 1400 metres, clocking 1:19.8 for the 1200m and last 600 in 36.6. A filly with staying pedigree - her grand-dam Royal Tiara (Blanco) won the Auckland Cup (Gr. 1, 3200m) - Tiara (O'Reilly) is seeking a NZ Oaks (Gr. 1, 2400m) berth following the Benchmark 65 Fillies & Mares 2100 metres next Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Te Rapa.

A dominant winner last time out at Ellerslie, Sir Darci (Misbah) and Speeding (Hercock) covered 1200 metres in 1:18.1, last 600m in 36.7. Speeding (Volksraad) is preparing for the Maiden 2100 metres at Te Rapa, and Sir Darci (Darci Brahma) the Lindsay Mile (3YO, 1600m) on Derby Day at Ellerslie.
