Te Akau Saturday Trackwork

20 December, 2014

Te Akau track work highlights Saturday December 20 -

Course proper (Dead):

La Adelita (Samuelsson) galloped solo over 1200 metres in 1:19.5, 1000m in 1:05.5 and last 600m in 36.9. Alchemy's Flight (Samuelsson) covered 800m in 56.4, last 600m in 41.3. Bronte Lass (Hercock) went 1000m in 1:07.4, last 600m in 38.4.

Show No Emotion (Hercock) and Star of Greenbeel (Miller) worked together over 1200m in 1:19.4, 1000m 1:04.5 and the last 600m in 37.3. A four-year-old gelding by Savabeel, Star of Greenbeel is scheduled to debut over 1300 metres on Boxing Day at Awapuni.

Daniel Miller said: “He (Star of Greenbeel) hooked into his work, but ran a solid gallop and still finished it off to his credit. He should be fine on race pace, getting straight into it.  Show No Emotion (Pins) never came off the nickel at all and seems pretty well."

Arpeggio (Richards) and Smashing (Samuelsson) went 1000m in 1:04, last 600m in 36.7.  Maestro (Miller) and Sir Darci (Hercock) quickened from the 1400 metres. They covered the 1200m in 1:18.4, 1000m in 1:04.3 and final 600m in 37.7.

“Maestro had blinkers on and after being keen early he then came off the bridle, but ran home when I asked him,” said Miller, “first time in blinkers, he'll relax more with experience."

No Tricks (Hercock - pictured below) worked over 800m at three-quarter pace.

Sand track:

Wolfwhistle (Allen) worked over 1000m in 1:13, last 600m in 43.2. Spellbinder (Hercock) covered 800m in 57.2, last 600m in 40.5. Angelica Hall (Miller - main picture) went 800m in 54.7, last 600m in 39.5. Cathedral Cove (Miller) and Zarules (Samuelsson) went 800m in 56.2, last 600m in 41.4. Atua (Hercock) covered 800m in 56.1, last 600m in 40.8.

Of Angelica Hall, Miller said: “She does it so easily and has some serious talent. She seems to be doing everything right but wanted to get trucking. She always does a little bit. Her stride goes a little wee deer stride to a huge stride within a second, ‘bang and she's off'. I was happy with her and she's coming along nicely.

“Cathedral Cove felt smooth in his action but we only went an easy six hundred. He's quite a lazy horse and going to require blinkers in time, I'd say,” said Miller.

Three-quarter pace on the sand track:

Abidewithme (Samuelsson) 1200m, Flirty Gertey (Roff) 1000m, Darci's Dream (Miller) 800m, Osmunda (Samuelsson) 800m, and Bordeaux (Miller) 800m.

“Darci's Dream has woken up a bit after a gallop through the week and wanted to get trucking a bit, which is not a bad thing,” said Miller.
