Course proper:
Both stakes' winners this season, Heroic Valour (Miller) and Sassy 'N' Smart (M. Grylls) galloped over 1000 metres in 1.07.7 and 39.2. Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock) and Sassy 'N' Smart (Smart Missile) both look a picture ahead of their next assignment in the $225,000 Group 1 Manawatu Sires' Produce over 1400m for 2YOs at Awapuni next Saturday.
Stella Di Paco (De Geer) and Grazia (Lammas) covered 1000 metres nicely in 1.07.8, their last 600 in 39.4.
A striking individual, Splurge (Ritchie) covered 1000m with a mate in 1.06.8, last 600 in 39.1. Herschal (Miller) and Our Abbadean (M. Grylls) worked over 1000 metres in 1.09.6, 40.3 with some cut in the track later in the morning.
Sand:
Consistent black type performer Silverdale (Shailer) prepared for the $100,000 Gr. 2 Awapuni Gold Cup (OPN 2000m) next Saturday 2 April with a strong gallop over 1200 metres in 1.30, his last 600 in 43.3. Carmenize (De Geer) paired with Beacon of Hope (Miller) worked on terms over 1000 metres in 1.03, their last 600 in 37.3, the pair both looking strong in their work. Promising mare Interstellar (Fawcett) ran 59 for the 800m.
Esprit De Corps (Lammas) had his final hit out ahead of trialling at Cambridge on Tuesday. He worked over 1000 metres in 1.06. Also heading towards the Cambridge trials 2f Choisir - Mystic Flight (Leveque) and 2g Pins - Miss Katella (Richards) worked together over 800m in 53, completing their final 600 in 38.4. Galloping over 800 metres, Vinevale (De Geer) went 51, her last 600 in 45. 3f Alamosa - Popsy (Fawcett) and Il Piu Veloce (De Geer) went 600 in 46.
Preparing to make her debut at Matamata next Wednesday 30 March, the well named Bobtail (De Geer) and Abloom (M. Grylls) covered 1000 metres in 1.06, last 600 in 38.7. Bobtail (Alamosa) and Abloom (Darci Brahma) both look on track for their target of the Maiden 2YO 1200m race. Highly Likely (Leveque) looks ready to kick off his winter campaign following trialling at Cambridge on Tuesday. He covered 1200 metres in 1.24.
