Te Akau track work highlights - Saturday 4 June -
Sand track:
Christine Louise (K. Jones) and Niamh Elizabeth (Miller) galloped together over 1000m in 1:06, last 600m in 36.3. They were followed in turn by Tavis Star (Hanafi). All three are entered to race next Wednesday, June 8, at Avondale.
Preparing for the two-year-old race at Avondale, Abloom (M. Grylls) and Lady Masako (Miller) went 800m in 54.7 and final 600m in 38.9.
Royal Success (Richards) went an easy 1200m, solo. He ran the 1000m in 1:11, last 600m in 41.
Windborne (M. Grylls) ran an easy 1000m in 1:10, last 600m in 40, looking good.
Zavistic (Ritchie) and Zip Zap (K. Jones) went an easy 1000m in 1:14, last 600m in 43.
Cabaret (K. Jones) and Ebony Star (Fawcett) both travelled well over an easy 800m in 58, last 600m in 42.
Sand track, three-quarter pace:
Grazia (M. Grylls) was followed by Fastnet Fire (K. Jones) over 1200m. They ran the 1000m in 1:15, last 600m in 45. The work was spot on and each appears a good chance in their respective races over 1600 metres and 2050 metres on Queen's Birthday Monday at Taurherenikau.
Gardenier (Miller) worked over 1200m in 1:22, last 600m in 42.7, ahead of her scheduled debut next Wednesday at Avondale.
The jumper Brer (Miller - pictured below) worked over two rounds, the last mile at three-quarter pace, pleasing the rider ahead of the $50,000 McGregor Grant Steeplechase (4150m) Queen's Birthday Monday at Ellerslie.

All-weather track:
Budding hurdler Maestro (Hanafi - picturd below) went 2000m at three-quarter pace and looked to be enjoying his work.

1 g Darci Brahma - Spin ‘N' Grin (Hanafi), 1 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Paixanito (Hillis) and 1 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Pteridophyte (M. Grylls) worked as a trio over 400m. 1 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Edesia (M. Grylls) and 1 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Zorina (Hillis) went 400m together.
1 f Iffraaj - Regal Thrills (Hanafi) and 1 f Makfi - Bislieri (Hillis) went 400m together at half pace.
