Te Akau Saturday Australian Preview
Date: 24 Sep 2021
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 25 September: Rosehill Gardens (Sydney) and Sandown (Melbourne).
Rosehill:
Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.
4.15 p.m. (NZ time) R5 1 Sword of State (3 c Snitzel - In the Vanguard) - Kerrin McEvoy; blew his rivals away on debut and ended his two-year-old campaign racing clear to win the Sistema Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) in March at Ellerslie. Resuming in the Petaluma Heritage Stakes (Listed, 1100m), he carries top weight (60kg) from a tricky draw, but is class act and should race well. NZ TAB Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.50.
5.25 p.m. R7 2 (NZ time) Entriviere (5 m Tavistock - Marcey's Belt) - James McDonald; had an outstanding season winning five of seven starts and twice second, she resumed with a dominant victory in the Coolmore Sheraco Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) a fortnight ago at Kembla Grange, ridden by McDonald, and steps up in the $400,000 Keeneland Golden Pendant (Gr. 2, 1400m). Drawn outside of nine should cause little concern and she rates a top three chance. NZ TAB Fixed odds: $2.20 & $1.25.
Sandown:
Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: true. Showers forecast.
5.45 p.m. R7 5 (NZ time) Probabeel (5 m Savabeel - Far Fetched) - Brett Prebble; resumed with victory in the W.W. Cockram Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) 28 August and close fifth last Saturday in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m), both at Caulfield. A triple Group 1 winner in Australia, she contests the $1m Quayclean Underwood Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m). She is yet to start on the course, but is a class act and meets only four rivals. NZ TAB fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.10.
