Te Akau Saturday Trans Tasman Preview
Date: 27 May 2022
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 28 May: Pukekohe, and Eagle Farm (Brisbane).
Pukekohe:
Weather: fine, track: Heavy9, rail: out 4 metres. No rain forecast.
12:50 p.m. R4 3 Rare Company (2 g Savabeel - Fast Company) - Joe Kamaruddin (a); rounded off well for a close third in a trial on 19 April at Taupo, and debuts in the $70,000 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Futurity Stakes (Listed, 1400m). A product of Champion Sires Savabeel and Fastnet Rock (Danehill) (dam sire), he strikes a field without previous winners and should race well from barrier five. Fixed odds: $4.00 & $1.35.
Eagle Farm:
Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: true. No rain forecast.
1:43 p.m. (NZ time) R2 15 Soprano Supreme (4 m Contributer - Falsetto) - Kerrin McEvoy; came of age winning three of her previous four starts before putting in a terrific effort for second in the Gold Coast Cup (2400m) on 7 May at Gold Coast, with McEvoy aboard, and steps up in the $200,000 Living Turf Premier's Cup (Gr. 3, 2400m). Again she carries the minimum weight (54kg) and appears capable of another bold showing with the right trip from barrier 11. Fixed odds NZ TAB: $8.00 & $2.80.
5:58 p.m. (NZ time) R9 12 Entriviere (5 m Tavistock - Marcey's Belt) - Opie Bosson; exploded clear to win the Sistema Railway (Gr. 1, 1200m) in January at Ellerslie, and was freshened following a good second to Levante (Proisir) in the BCD Group Sprint (Gr. 1, 1400m) in February at Te Rapa. She produced a slashing fresh-up run from last to finish third in the $1 million TAB Doomben 10,000 (Gr. 1, 1200m) here on 14 May and contests the $700,000 TAB Kingsford-Smith Cup (Gr. 1, 1300m). She is hindered by drawing wide (17), but has a super record and is capable of figuring with luck. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.80.
