8.20 p.m. R8 10 ROCKFAST - Manuel Nunes; with the scratchings of the ballots we expect to see our very good winner of his last two move into barrier seven or eight in the capacity field of 16. Nunes opting to ride Rockfast shows a big vote of confidence in the son of Fastnet Rock. Carrying the hopes of a good number of his owners who have travelled to Singapore, he also carries 57kgs. Bought by David Ellis at Karaka, if there is any rain about, his chances to partner Mark Walker to win his first Derby will be greatly enhanced. To be raced of the turf short course B with a stake of S$1.15 million, Mark reports that he is “in grand form and can't fault anything in his lead up - but it has been very dry in Singapore so I am hoping for some rain†- a top five chance.

8.55 p.m. R9 14 VIVIANO - Manuel Nunes; a nice draw (4) and a lightweight of 52.5kgs work in the favour of this Mark Walker runner. In this 14-runner event, he has come back stronger this prep after a nice spell - even though Class 3 1200m is a strong race, he will race well fresh - a top four chance.
