Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker again leads the Trainers' Premiership - now with 28 wins since 1 January.

Friday 1 April

11.50 p.m. R2 9 MISS WAIMATAITAI - Shafiq Rusof; draws the ace in the 11 horse field and carries 55.5kgs for Te Akau's former two time champion apprentice.  She will wear  a barrier blanket in an effort to improve her barrier manners - she will be at big odds but on her best behaviour she can run well and be a top four chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R4 4 ZAC COMMAND - App CK Ng (a3); draws 10 of 14 in this capacity field with the apprentice claim dropping him back to 53.5kgs.  One of two in this race for Mark Walker, he is a rising 9YO who won last start and any rain will be an assist to him.  Realistically now up in grade, a place chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R4 6 APPELLATION - Shafiq Rusof; the second of Te Akau's runners, draws seven and carries 55.5kgs.  He has been running very consistent races without much luck, if that luck goes his way he does rate a top four chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 3 VIVIANO - Alan Munro; the first of three stable runners in this nine horse field, he carried 57kgs and has drawn nicely at gate four.  No luck last weekend so is on the quick back up which will suit him and he rates a top four chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 4 ROCKFAST - Manuel Nunes; the second of Te Akau's trio and he too has drawn well for the champion jockey and will carry 56.5 kgs.  Very unlucky last start in a much harder race and another that any rain around will suit - a top four chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 7 BRAHMS & LISZT - Shafiq Rusof; completing the stable contingent in this (which actually comprises a third of the field), the veteran carries 55kgs and has drawn six.  He is much better suited once he gets back to Class 4 company and he may find this company a little rich.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 3 KAM'S COMET - Manuel Nunes; a very talented galloper, he has drawn seven in this eight horse feature event and carries 55kgs for the top rider.  He has found himself in Class 1 company now, he is very capable but meets a very strong field and as such, rates a place chance.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 1 MY LUCKY STRIKE - Manuel Nunes; he will jump from barrier nine which is not ideal for this exciting horse but he does have the rider to mitigate that, albeit carrying 59kgs. The first of three runners for the stable in this S$100,000 event, he is a great horse over the 1000m and should be hard to beat with any luck in the running.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 3 GOLDEN SAND STEED - App CK Ng (a3); draws best of the stable trio at five and carries only 51.5kgs.  His second run back after quite a long break and will take good improvement from the outing.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 2 INDIAN JADE - Shafiq Rusof; another wide draw (10) but just 52.5kgs to carry.  This is his first run back after a long break having bled, he will improve for the outing.

3.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 4 KEEN DRAGON - Manuel Nunes; the first of Mark Walker's three runners in the last, a 13 strong field.  He jumps from gate two and carries 56kgs - has had a freshen up and 1000m is a touch short for him - he rates a place chance.

3.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 7 COURT CASE - Oscar Chavez; draws further out at ten and carries 54kgs.  He was a touch disappointing last start and different tactics will be tried this week, being ridden from behind - an outside place chance.

3.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 10 OUR TOUCHE - App CK Ng (a3); the widest draw of the field (13) but just 50.5kgs to carry.  He is just returning to fitness and he is the type that takes a fair degree of racing to get fit - he will require plenty of luck from an outside barrier.
