Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
28 September, 2018
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 and 2017 Premiership winning trainer Mark Walker has recorded 38 wins, 51 second and 45 third placings since 1 January - including a Group 1 quinella in the Charity Bowl to add to the season's two Group 2 victories. He currently lies fourth on the Trainers' Premiership.
Friday 28 September 2018 - no racing Sunday
12.00 a.m. R4 1 Accumulation (4 g Rip Van Winkle - Vega Sicila) - Ryan Curatolo; draws barrier 10 of 11 in the $20,000 Maiden 1600 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. This gelding is enjoying good form and rates a top four chance, despite the wide draw.
12.35 a.m. R5 7 Cloudburst (4 g Pour Moi - November Rain) - Mohamad Firdaus (a1); will spring from a handy gate (6) in a field of 12 on debut in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and has 56.5kgs on his back. He is new to the stable for his Kiwi owners and has been tricky in the barriers - he also requires further distance but this is a nice race to kick off his Singapore career and he is capable of placing.
1.10 a.m. R6 10 Venus De Milo (4 m Burgundy - Breezed) - Ryan Curatolo; has copped the outside barrier (12) in the $20,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the poly track and is allocated 54.5kgs. She is an honest mare and is in good form but requires luck from the draw.
2.20 a.m. R8 1 Black Quail (5 g Coats Choice - Sefidi) - Razali Zawari (a1); to complete the night, two starters for the stable - the first will jumpy from barrier 8 of 11 in the Class 4 1400 metres on the turf and carries 56kgs. Another in solid form, and positive from the gate, he presents as a top four chance.
2.20 a.m. R8 10 Alamosa Express (5 g Alamosa - Dane Whisper) - Alysha Collett; another stable runner to unfortunately also cop the outside barrier (11) in the $45,000 event with 53kgs on his back. He was encouraging last start but requires luck from wide gate to be a place chance.
