Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker again leads the Trainers' Premiership - now with 28 wins since 1 January.

10.20 p.m. R1 7 READY FORTUNE - Shafiq Rusof; draws well out (12) and carries 54.5kgs for Te Akau's former two time champion apprentice.  Drawn the outside over the mile is not ideal but he is getting back to a rating were he is competitive and presents as a top five chance.

10.50 p.m. R2 12 FIGHTING QUEEN - Shafiq Rusof; a handy draw of four with 54kgs on her back.  She had a mishap in the barriers on debut and has had to trial again since, she will improve once she gets up over more distance.

11.20 p.m. R3 5 DR OCTOPUS - Manuel Nunes; with two stable runners in the event, the champion rider has elected to climb aboard this consistent galloper.  He has drawn barrier right and will carry 57.5kgs - the 1000m will suit this horse and he rates a top five chance.

11.20 p.m. R3 10 ZAC GALLANT - Corey Brown; the second from the stable in this race will carry just 52.5kgs and jump from barrier three.  A veteran campaigner, he will enjoy the handy draw, has a talented rider, is down in the weights - rates a top five chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 2 Q NINE MAGIC - Oscar Chavez; with two runners in this race, the first has drawn awkwardly at 12 and has a 58kgs impost to carry.  He is however is good forenamed if Brown can mitigate the difficult draw, he is a top five chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 7 BRIEFNESS - Manuel Nunes; completing the stable double in this, he carries 58kgs and has drawn nine.  He disappointed last start so some gear chances have been made in the hope of an improved performance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 4 BIG BANKER - Shafiq Rusof; he has drawn very well with the ace and carries 55.5kgs.  He has had a freshen up, is well drawn and rates a top five chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 6 DOUBLE JEOPARDY - Corey Brown; with the top Australian hoops aboard, he has an average draw (8) but is only weighted at 53.5kgs.  With the lightweight, and a top rider, this field looks even on paper and he rates a top five chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 1 ALPHA CENTAURI - R Woodnorth; draws best of the stable duo at three and carries 57kgs.  On the road back from injury, it really is decision day as to whether this lovely horse continues to race or finds a riding school home. 

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 3 CLUTHA LAD - Oscar Chavez; the Mr Consistent of the stable has been a terrific money earner for his connections after his $36,500 purchase price, having won in excess of $300,000 in Singapore. The second in the race for Te Akau, he has drawn five and carries 55.5kgs.  He is in good form, even though his poly form is better, he rates a top I've chance on the turf.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 11 IKING - App CK Ng (a3); he hasn't fared that well in the barrier department (9) but with the apprentice claim, carries the featherweight of 47kgs.  He does however need to get back down to Class 4 company to show his best.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 2 WONDERFUL - Manuel Nunes; this horse really deserves to break through after having been runner up at his past three starts.  he has drawn well enough (7) and carries 57.5kgs for the top jockey.  He rates a top four chance - one of two in the final event for Mark Walker.   

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 10 FREE HAPPY - App CK Ng (a3); draws two outside of his stablemate (9) but only weighted at 47kgs with the claim.  He does however need to get back down to Class 5 company to be competitive. require plenty of luck from an outside barrier.
