Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
22 April, 2016
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore tonight, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker again leads the Trainers' Premiership - now with 30 wins since 1 January.
Friday 22 April
10.20 p.m. R1 1 DREAMCATCHER - Manuel Nunes; draws wide (10) in this 12-strong field and carries 57kgs. The first of three Mark Walker runners in the first event, he is on the back up from a good third last week. If he can get luck from the bad barrier draw, he rates a top four chance.
10.20 p.m. R1 6 BULLISH LUCK - Alan Munro; the second stable rep. draws better (3) and carries 56.5kgs. He has been a touch disappointing of late but returns to the poly where he has performed previously - a top four chance.
10.20 p.m. R1 8 HEE'S EGO - Corey Brown; draws the ace, the third of the Mark Walker team in this race. Carrying 56.5kgs, he ran a very good second last start and continuing that form will rate a top four chance.

10.50 p.m. R2 10 SHAQRAA - Nooresh Juglall; draws nicely at four and carries 55.5kgs in the second race on the programme. The first of two stable runners, he had a bit of a freshen up - a touch disappointing last start, he will be ridden quietly and can bounce back to form - a top four chance.
10.50 p.m. R2 14 MISS WAIMATAITAI - TBA - ballot 1; if she gets a start she will carry 54kgs and jump from the handy draw of five. Though disappointing last start, she gets back to the polytrack which she seems to prefer but again, needs a scratching to gain a start.

11.20 p.m. R3 2 COURT CASE - Oscar Chavez; the first of two in the event for Te Akau, Chavez retains the mount with 58kgs and an average draw (7) in the field of 12. He will wear blinker/pacifiers for the first time in an easier grade - he will be ridden patiently and rates a top four chance.
11.20 p.m. R3 5 OUR TOUCHE - Manuel Nunes; the second of Mark Walker's starters in this race, he jumps from gate four and also carries 58kgs for top rider Manuel Nunes. He too lines up in an easier grade this time around. Fitter now since his wind operation, he rates a top four chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 2 ASHQAR - Alan Munro; the first of Mark Walker's three starters in this race has drawn the widest gate and carries 58kgs. Disappointed last start and the very wide barrier makes it tough, we will reassess after Friday.
11.50 p.m. R4 3 SWAN SONG - Vlad Duric; the second of the stable trio, he has drawn six and carries 58kgs. He resumes but does have 58kgs to carry but nice draw compensates somewhat - can improve and thus rates a top four chance.
11.50 p.m. R4 9 VINTAGE VERDOT - App CC Wong (a2); the last of the stable runners in this will carry 52,.5kgs courtesy of the apprentice claim. He has been a touch disappointing, will be ridden quietly from the draw and does need to improve.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 5 BIG BANKER - Alan Munro; he has drawn well at two and carries 57kgs. A nice winner last start, he has trained on well but steps up in grade here. This is a tougher assignment in which he rates a top four chance. The first of three in the race for Mark Walker.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 7 KING SAVINSKY - Manuel Nunes; he will jump from barrier 10 carrying 57kgs. Going well at the moment without actually getting much luck and does rate a top four chance.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 14 READY FORTUNE - TBA - ballot 2; has drawn well at three but lies second on the ballot and will require two scratchings to gain a start. The last of the stable's runners in this race.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 3 TURQUOISE KING - Michael Rodd; draws awfully at 14 and will require the skills of the senior Australian rider carrying 56.5kgs to navigate the car park start. One of two in the race for Mark Walker, the first starter for the stable will improve once he gets over more distance.
1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 4 EATON'S GOLD - Corey Brown; the second of the team but he has drawn handily (5) and will carry 56kgs. He is going for a hattrick of wins but this is a very strong field so place prospects probably best.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 3 STORM TROOPER - Manuel Nunes; resumes after an injury layoff and not getting a start last week. While the 1000m will be a touch short for him, he's a happy, health horse and rates a top four chance while he is fresh.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 2 KEEN DRAGON - Manuel Nunes; finds a suitable race here, coming off a freshen up - a top four chance from barrier four in this 12 horse field with 55.5kgs. One of two in the race for Mark Walker.
2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 12 CLERMONT CLUB - App CK Ng (a3); hopefully the apprentice claim bringing him down to only 48kgs will assist in overcoming the 12 draw. He does need to get back to Class 5 to be competitive.
