Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 41 wins since 1 January.  Note there is no Sunday meeting at Kranji this weekend.

Friday 1 July

10.20 p.m. R1 10 SECRET SPICE - App CK Ng (a3); draws wide (11) in this 12 horse field and carries 52.5kgs with the apprentice claim.  There is a mile race in three weeks that will suit her better and this is a stepping stone to that - outside place chance.

10.50 p.m. R2 9 AWATERE - App S Anandan (a1); another to draw wide - 10 of 12 in this restricted maiden field of 2 & 3YOs.  With the apprentice claim however he carries just 49kgs.  Bought from the Karaka sale, he is on debut for his New Zealand owners.  A nice horse, although a query under lights for the first time, he has a nice lightweight and the trainer would be happy with a top five finish for his first taste of racenight.

11.20 p.m. R3 8 OUR TOUCHE - Manuel Nunes; with the top jockey aboard, this gelding draws eight in a field of 11 and carries 53kgs.  Class 4 company could look a bit strong for him - place chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 3 SWAN SONG - Oliver Placais; the first of two stable runners in this 12 horse open maiden field, he carries 58kgs and has drawn well enough at gate six.  He does need to start showing more, to date he has been quite disappointing.

11.50 p.m. R4  ASHQAR - Manuel Nunes; the second of Te Akau's starters has drawn gate seven for the champion jockey and will carry 57 kgs.  He has been going sound races without much luck with barrier draws - a top five chance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 9 CLERMONT CLUB - App CK Ng (a3); with the apprentice claim this 6YO carries 52.5kgs and has drawn gate eight for the Kanji Stakes D over 1800m on the polytrack. He is a little bit out of form but with a gear adjustment, the trainer will be looking for improvement.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 11 APPELLATION - App CK Ng (a3); carries just 50.5kgs with the apprentice allowance and has drawn out at eight in the 10 horse field.  This is a stepping stone towards his target race in three weeks' time.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 7 IKING - App CK Ng (a3); the first of two stablerunners, he has drawn the worst of the two (11) in this field of 12 but has weight relief with the apprentice down to just 49kgs. This is a stepping stone to a mile race so the Open Benchmark 1400m looks a bit tough.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 8 TURQUOISE KING - App CC Wong (a2); draws not much better than his stablemate at gate 10 and will carry only 50kgs with the claim. This race also looks a challenge as the trainer targets a race in three weeks' time.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 6 EN CIVIL - Olivier Placais; the first of three in this eighth event for Mark Walker, he has drawn well (4) and carries 57kgs in the Class 4 mile.  another wide draw (10) but just 52.5kgs to carry.  Any rain would aid his chances, he is in good form and rates a top five chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 8 STORM TROOPER - Manuel Nunes; the second of Mark Walker's three runners carries 56.5kgs and draw handily jumping from barrier six in the 12 strong field.  He is in grand form, rain should it come however would be a great assist - our best chance for the night.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 9 BRAHMS AND LISZT - Antonio da Silva; draws further out at 11 and carries 56.5kgs.  He never seems to draw a gate lately and he will need a lot of luck.
