Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 41 wins since 1 January.

Friday 8 July

10.20 p.m. R1 5 MISS WAIMATAITAI - Corey Brown; draws the ace in the first, one of two runners for Mark Walker, she carries 55.5kgs. In this maiden mile on the turf short course A, she goes to the 1600m for the first time and looks to be a top five chance.

10.20 p.m. R1 6 WALTER'S BAY - Olivier Placais; the second stable runner draws gate seven and like his stablemate, carries 55.5kgs in this field of 14 starters. He has been disappointing and needs to step up.

11.20 p.m. R3 4 READY FORTUNE - Manuel Nunes; with the top jockey aboard, this 6YO gelding draws out at 10 in a field of 12 and carries 55.5kgs.  Just a shame there are not two divisions but it is not the strongest Class 5 1700m - a top five chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 6 HORAZ SAMOSIR - Manuel Nunes; on debut for the stable, she has drawn the outside barrier in this 12 horse Class 5 1200 field and is weighted with 54kgs for the top rider. From this barrier she will need luck but with the first time in blinkers, she could go a cheeky race - a top four chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 9 DISTINCTIVE DARCI - Alan Munro; the first of two Te Akau trained juveniles in the S$325,000 Group 2 feature for the 2YOs - the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe over 1200m on the turf.  This son of Darci Brahma is having his second start for the stable and went a ripper of a race on debut with a fast finishing second.  He's drawn perfectly (1) and will carry 56kgs.  Trainer would have preferred another week or 10 days between runs but “when the money is up” sometimes you have to have a crack - a top five chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 13 HELLO MICHELLE - Oscar Chavez; one of only three fillies (interestingly all NZ bred) in the 15 horse field for the 2YO feature, this daughter of Minstrel Court has already been a winner in Singapore.  She has drawn out at 10 and carries 54.5kgs. She will race in blinkers for the first time - she got a nasty check last start and her trainer felt she lost some confidence and will reassess after tonight.

1.55 a.m. (Saturday) R8 11 DOUBLE JEOPARDY - Antonio Da Silva; carries 54kgs and has drawn wide at 10 in the 12 horse field. He struggled to win a race last prep and whilst 1200m is too short, this is a stepping stone towards hopefully getting a win this time in.
