Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
15 July, 2016
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 42 wins since 1 January.
Friday 15 July
10.20 p.m. R1 9 SHAQRAA - Shafiq Rusof; draws well (3) in the Class 5 1200m on the turf in the 14 strong field and carries 57kgs for Te Akau's former two time champion apprentice. He is improving and acclimatising all time and he finally gets a good barrier. He will be able to race more handily and rates a top five chance.

11.20 p.m. R3 6 COURT CASE - Manuel Nunes; draws wide in the field of 11 (9) and will carry 57kgs in the Class 4 1200m on the polytrack. A touch unpredictable, he does have plenty of of ability however. He will wear a tongue tie tonight and he will be ridden off the speed - a strong four chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 4 GABBAR - Manuel Nunes; with the top rider aboard in the Restricted Maiden for 2&3YOs over 1400m on the turf, he draws barrier seven and also carries 57kgs. In this compact field of nine starters, he is enjoying great form. Visor blinkers on, he is drawn out a little wider than the trainer would have liked - nonetheless a strong top four chance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 4 SWAN SONG - Manuel Nunes; a reasonable draw (6) in this Class 5 1800m on the polytrack for the horse that runs in Silent Achiever's colours. Carrying 56.5kgs, the former Kiwi has been very disappointing and needs to improve.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 14 WALTER'S BAY - TBA; lying second on the ballot, he is unlikely to get a start and is another who needs to improve.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 10 DOUBLE JEOPARDY - Olivier Placais; draws out at gate nine in the Class 5 1200m on the turf and will carry 56kgs. Second up tonight in the field of 14, he has been disappointing too - he has had many placings and many chances to win, he needs to shape up.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 2 IKING - Manuel Nunes; has drawn handily enough (6) for the Kranji Stakes C over the mile on the turf course C. In this S$80,000 affair featuring only seven runners, he will carry the top weight of 58kgs and even though he is a rising 8YO he is in career best form - a strong top four chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 11 STARSKY - Manuel Nunes; nasty draw one from the outside (11) in this 12 strong line-up. Carrying just 53kgs with the top rider aboard in this Class 4 over 1100m on the polytrack, he again cops a nightmare draw and will have to be ridden back for luck.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 1 NAZIR - Oscar Chavez; yet another difficult Friday night draw for this stable debutante (11 of 12) in the Class 4 1200m on the polytrack. He will carry 58.5kgs in his first Kranji appearance and was previously trained by James Cummings in Sydney. He is raced by Dato Tan Chin Nam and Dato Terry Lee so it is an honour to have a horse in the stable for that partnership. A real staying type, he will improve with the run.
