Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
29 July, 2016
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies second on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 44 wins, 53 second and 57 third placings since 1 January.
Friday 29 July
10.20 p.m. R1 12 CLERMONT CLUB - Antonio Da Silva; couldn't draw any wider (12 from 12) and has been weighted with 54 kgs in this opening Class 5 1200m event on the polytrack. He's had a nice freshen up - 1200m will be too short but there is no prize money at the trials so he is racing and will improve as he gets up over more ground again.

10.50 p.m. R2 11 DREAM COMES TRUE - Manuel Nunes; this 2YO Alamosa gelding makes his debut in Singapore, has drawn six in a field of 12 for the Restricted Maiden 2&3YO 1100m on the polytrack and carries just 50kgs for the top rider. He has won a trial in NZ and both of his trials in Singapore so he comes to the races in good form - expect him to be a strong top three chance.

11.20 p.m. R3 14 Q NINE MAXIM - TBC; sits second on the ballot and has drawn the ace for the Class 4 mile on the polytrack. Weighted with 52.5kgs, he looks unlikely to make the field. If he got a start, he would be a lightweight chance however there is a race for him next Friday.

11.50 p.m. R4 2 GABBAR - Manuel Nunes; has been in solid form and strikes a winning opportunity in this Initiation WFA mile on the long course B (turf). In this field of 12 opponents he has drawn midfield (7 of 13) and carries 57kgs. He was unlucky last start and while this field is stronger than that he met last outing, the trainer still expects him to be a top four chance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 3 SWAN SONG - Manuel Nunes; the first of two for Mark Walker in this Class 5 1900m on the polytrack, he has the top rider, has drawn gate three and carries 58.5kgs. He is in good condition and although has disappointed in Singapore, a decision will be made about his racing future here after tonight but the 1900m does suit him.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 7 WALTER'S BAY - Shafiq Rusof; the second of the duo for Mark Walker in this 11-strong line-up, he has drawn wide (11) and carries 57kgs. He has been disappointing thus far and he too will be re-assessed after tonight - however the distance does also suit.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 1 NAZIR - Shafiq Rizuan; again two runners in this event, the Class 4 1400m on the long course B turf, for Mark Walker. The first was unlucky on debut and here draws awkwardly (11) and will carry 57kgs. It will take a few runs to get him up to the right distance to show the form we believe he is capable of, and this distance will likely be too short.
2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 VRAAD - Manuel Nunes; the second of the two for the team in the fied of 12 has drawn to be dangerous (2) and likewise has a dangerous weight of 52.5kgs for the champion rider. The last start runner up is in good form, drops to the lightweight and he rates a top four chance.
