Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
9 September, 2016
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Trainers' Premiership winner Mark Walker lies third on the Trainers' Premiership - now with 51 wins since 1 January.
Friday 9 September - there is no Sunday meeting at Kranji this weekend
10.20 p.m. R1 2 LIM'S CONTROL - Corey Brown; draws well (4) in this 12-strong Class 5 1200m event on the Polytrack. The consistent galloper carries 57kgs and coming off the back of a last start good fourth, he's drawn well, has a top jockey, a couple of gear changes - expect a top four performance.

10.50 p.m. R2 8 CLERMONT CLUB - Shafiq Rizuan; his recent racing has been sound, being runner up at his past two, he has drawn out however (10 from 12) and carries 55.5kgs. Start number 58 tonight for the six-time winner who has amassed over $210,000 in prizemoney since being sent to Singapore (a RTR Sale purchase by David Ellis). Lining up in this Class 5 1700m on the Polytrack as an older horse now but one in good form, he rates a top five chance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 8 LADY IFFRAAJ - Shafiq Rizuan; the older sister of Te Akau New Zealand's talented O'Naturelle, this daughter of the good race mare Naturo has also shown plenty of ability since landing in Singapore for the Fortuna team. In the Class 4 1200m on the Polytrack, she has unfortunately drawn 11 of 12 starters but does have a nice lightweight of 53kgs to carry. She is racing well, does have that awkward draw which, if she gets any luck in the running, should see her as a top five chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 13 Q NINE MAXIM - App CK Ng (a3); he has also drawn gate 11 of the 12 runners in the Class 4 1800m on the polytrack, carries a cheeky 47kgs with the claim, but sits at one on the ballot. It's a shame he sits on the ballot as he is coming off a very good last start third. If he makes the field, a top five chance.

1.50 a.m. R8 5 COURT CASE - Shafiq Rizuan; he can have his moments this gelding but he does possess ability, underlined with his $104,881 earned in just 13 Kranji appearances since travelling from NZ. He will jump from gate two in this Class 4 1200m on the polytrack and carries 56.5kgs for the previous two time Champion Te Akau apprentice. He is unpredictable but is in good form and does prefer coming down the outside - so if he can find luck, he rates a top four chance.

2.20 a.m. R9 7 DAMON - Danny Beasley; the first of two for Mark Walker in the final event, the Open Benchmark 67 over 1400m on the turf short course E. Drawn well at three, with 55kgs on his back, he has been the model of consistency since arriving in Singapore from NZ. He has been freshened and any give in the track will aid his chances - a top five chance.
2.20 a.m. R9 8 STORM TROOPER - App CK Ng (a3); the second of the stable starters in this 12-runner field drops to a competitive 52kgs with the apprentice claim and jumps from gate seven. An honest son of Tavistock, he has been going sound races and any rain will certainly advance his chances. He rates, with the lightweight, a top five chance.
