Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 13 winners this season and lies second on the Trainers' Premiership.
Friday 17 February -
11.20 p.m. R1 1 ASPEN - Shafiq Rizuan; the first sees this last start runner up spring from gate 11 of 14 and carry 57kgs in the Class 5 1600m on the =turf short course B. This son of Alamosa is in top form - little bit of an awkward draw but a top four chance.
11.50 p.m. R2 BIG REGARDS - Manuel Nunes; two starters for Mark Walker in this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1400 on the turf short course B. The first draws best at barrier four and carries 57kgs. He needs to improve.
11.50 p.m. R2 7 ALAMAK BOY - App R Zawari (a2); the second for the stable draws seven of 11 and is also weighted with 57kgs. He also needs to improve.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R3 1 QINGDAO - Shafiq Rizuan; a 4YO on debut for the stable on this Open Maiden WFA 1200m on the turf short course B has drawn gate six and carries 57.5kgs. In this field of 14, he is a nice horse having his first start and will be running home powerfully - top five chance.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R3 14 SHE'S THE ONE - I Azher; the second stable rep. starts in the carpark (14 of 14), the grey 3YO filly to carry 53kgs. She is having her second Singapore start and has a horror draw to contend with however she is a big improver heading to the grass.
1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 2 GANNET - Gerald Mosse; a race again with two runners for Mark Walker, this Class 4 1600m on the turf short course B. The first, a son of Duke of Marmalade draws six of 12 and carries 58kgs. He gets to 1600m but needs to improve on what he has done.
1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 5 TURQUOISE KING - Shafiq Rizuan; the second for the trainer went a solid race for fourth last start, draws well (3) and will carry 56kgs. He is in good form but hasn't had a lot of luck of late - top five chance.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 6 CLUTHA LAD - Gerald Mosse; a Class 5 over 2000m with three contenders for Mark Walker. The first, this now 7YO son of Thorn Park, has been running out his races well (2nd and 3rd from his last two appearances), draws six and carries 57.5kgs. He has his first go at 2000m on the grass but in solid form - a top four chance.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 9 Q NINE MAXIM - Shafiq Rizuan; the second of the stable trio draws best (2 of 11) and is weighted with 54kgs. This 5YO disappointed last week but the 2000m will suit - top five chance.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 10 CLERMONT CLUB - App CK Ng (a3); the final runner for the team in this event has also been racing well with two 3rd and a fourth placing from his last four starts. Today he draws out unfortunately (11 of 11) but with the apprentice claim only carries 48.5kgs. He went a good race the other day for third, carries a featherweight but it's an awkward draw - top five chance.
2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 4 SHOW FAR SHOW GOOD - Shafiq Rizuan; again two stable starts with the first drawing 10 of 12 in this Class 4 1200m on the turf short course B. With 55kgs on his back, he has been a touch disappointing and needs to improve.
2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 7 LIM'S SHOT - Danny Beasley; the second for Mark Walker draws just inside his stablemate (9) and carries 54kgs. He is in good form, a solid top four chance.
2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 1 IKING - App Z Syed (a4); another race with dual representation for the stable this Class 4 1600m on the turf short course B. This the first runner draws 11 of 13 and will carry 54.5kgs thanks to the apprentice claim. He is an older horse now but this is his right grade and a four kilo claim - top four chance.
2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 3 STORM TROOPER - Shafiq Rizuan; the second starter for Mark Walker in this S$60,000 event draws out at 10 with 57.5kgs on his back. By Tavistock, he will love any rain (and it has rained a lot this week), that would greatly help his chances.
3.20 a.m.(Saturday) R9 1 CHAMPAGNE REIN - App R Zawari (a2); the last runner for the night has been racing solidly and with the claim, drops to 56.5kgs in this Class 4 1200m on the turf short course B. Jumping from gate four, he is in good form, first time on the grass in Singapore - a top four chance.
