Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 26 winners, 31 runners up and 23 third placegetters this season and currently leads the Trainers' Premiership.

Friday 12 April - note there is no Sunday meeting this weekend -

11.50 p.m. R2 2 LIMS SIGNATURE - App R Zawari (a2); two runners in this Restricted Maiden for 2&3YOs under WFA conditions over 1100m on the polytrack. This 3YO son of Swiss Ace has drawn the absolute outside (11 of 11) and carries 55kgs with the apprentice allowance. He needs to improve.

11.50 p.m. R2 8 OBSTACLES FREE - Shafiq Rizuan; the second stable starter draws better (5) and carries 57kgs. It is start number two for this 3YO son of Coats Choice and he didn't go too badly first up - will improve.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R3 2 PURE JUSTICE - Manuel Nunes; this last start winner also cops an awkward draw (11 of 12) on the turf short course D for this Class 4 1200m. Chasing the thick end of the S$60,000 purse again, he won last start in a weaker grade however than this - place chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R4 1 QINGDAO - App R Zawari (a2); this 4YO son of Volksraad receives some weight relief with the apprentice aboard, carrying 56kgs from barrier two. One of two for Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker in the Initiation 4YO+Below WFA 1400m on the turf short course D, he is having start three tonight but does need to improve.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R4 12 SHE'S THE ONE - I Azhar - the second stable runner draws just inside her stablemate (3 of 12) and carries 54kgs. Her latest two runs have delivered 5th placings so she is gradually showing the improvement required - she too needs to step up.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 3 CLUTHA LAD - App Z Syed (a4); the two stablemates in this Class 5 1800m on the polytrack have been playing ‘cat and mouse' recently with two race day quinella results from their last two outings, the first winning and then the latter turning the tables next start - who who wins tonight? This now 7YO son of Thorn Park draws best of the two (5) and with the claim, takes good relief down to 55kgs. With a form line of 2-5-1-2, he will look to avenge his last start defeat by Clermont Club - in great form for an older horse - top four chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 10 CLERMONT CLUB - App CK Ng (a3); with the “battle of the apprentices" in this 12 strong field, our second runner draws barrier eight and drops to a dangerous 50kgs. Sporting a not too dissimilar form line to his stablemate Clutha Lad (3-4-2-1), he retains form - a top four chance.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 11 TURQUOISE KING - Manuel Nunes; this 6YO son of Stratum is enjoying a purple patch of good form (5-4-2-3-1) culminating in a last start victory. Tonight he draws out a touch (8 of 12) for the Kranji Stakes C SW 1400m on the turf short course D. With 55kgs on his back, he is up in class here - place chance.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 12 MOMENT OF JUSTICE - App CK Ng (a3); not drawn the best (8 of 12) for this Class 4 1700m on the polytrack, his big advantage is the absolute featherweight of 48.5kgs on his back compliments of the apprentice claim. He needs to show improvement.

3.20 a.m. R9 5 AWATERE - Shafiq Rizuan; to complete the evening's racing for Te Akau, the Pip and Craig Forsyth owned runner will jump from gate six with 56kgs in the Class 4 1200m on the turf short course D. Although he has drawn barrier six, his form line reads 1-6-1-6-6 so the aim will be no six in the form line, rather another 1!! He will be better for his first up run and is a quick improver - top five chance.
