Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 63 winners and continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - leading by 21 wins.

Friday 11 August

10.50 p.m. R1 9 SHE'S THE ONE - Ismail Azhar; the first of the night for Singapore's leading trainer is this 4YO mare who jumps from gate seven and carries 55kgs in the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack. Following a much improved effort for second last start, she faces nine competitors and rates a top five chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R6 4 MIGHTY CONQUEROR - App R Zawari (a2); two runners for the stable in this Class 3 1000m on the polytrack where the first draws the ace (1) and drops to 53kgs thanks to the apprentice claim. This 5YO is really hitting his straps with a win and two runner-up placings from his last four starts and although up in class for this assignment, he rates a top four in the 12-strong line-up.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R6 6 CHAMPAGNE REIN - Shafiq Rizuan; the second in this $80,000 event also draws nicely (4) and carries a similar weight (53.5kgs) to his stablemate. This 6YO son of Captain Rio was a smart winner last time to the races albeit in lesser company - place chance.

1.50 a.m. R7 6 AUSPICIOUS ACE - Alan Munro; the final runner on a relatively quiet evening for the stable has drawn out (10 of 11) for the Class 4 1200m on the polytrack. With a lightweight of 52kgs, he is enjoying good form and - down in the weights - an each way chance at odds.
