Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 Premiership winning trainer Mark Walker leads the 2017 Trainers' Premiership with 71 wins since 1 January - a lead of 24 wins.

Friday 15 September

11.50 p.m. R3 4 IVANHOE - Shafiq Rizuan; draws the ace of 12 runners in the Class 4 1200m on the turf long course C where he carries 56kgs. Wearing the famous colours of Dato Tan Chin Nam, this 5YO has enjoyed a nice spell but does needs to improve to be competitive at Class 4 level.

12.20 a.m. R4 4 BLACK QUAIL - Vlad Duric; a nice draw (4 of 12) in the Initiation 4YO+Below WFA 1100m on the polytrack for this 4YO on debut.  A gelding by Coats Choice, he is a nice individual, with 57.5kgs on his back and will improve the further he goes.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 2 HIDDEN PROMISE - App R Zawari (a2); three starters for Mark Walker in this Class 4 1600m on the polytrack, with the first dropping to 55.5kgs with the leading apprentice's claim. Enjoying great form including two wins in his last five appearances (2-4-1-3-1), he does have a wide draw (10) to work through. This is a big step up in class but he is in good form - a top four chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 5 NORTHERN KNIGHT - Vlad Duric; jumping from gate four, this 6YO finished a tidy third last start and, the second runner for the stable, he is weighted with 57kgs.  He is a somewhat erratic and unpredictable individual but he did run well last start - if he brings that performance to the race, he rates a top five chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 CLUTHA LAD - App CK Ng (a3); the stable's third representative draws the extreme outside in this 12 horse field and would carry just 47kgs, however sitting second on the ballot, he looks unlikely to make the field.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R8 7 ASPREY - Shafiq Rizuan; the final runner for Mark Walker on Friday lines up in this Class 4 1200m on the turf long course C where he too cops the outside gate (14) and carries 54kgs.  His last two runs have been solid when finishing third and fourth however the difficult barrier makes this assignment tough.
