Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 74 winners and continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership - leading by 26 wins.

Friday 22 September - note there is no Sunday meeting this weekend

10.20 p.m. R1 3 OBSTACLES FREE - Ismail Azhar; this son of Coats Choice kick starts the Friday night team for Mark Walker in this Class 5 1000m on the polytrack. Drawing eight of 12 and with 58kgs on his back, this 4YO has been somewhat disappointing and needs to improve.

11.20 p.m. R3 8 HONOR - Ismail Saifudin; a winner in a weaker field two starts ago, this Rip Van Winkle mare will break from gate nine in the Class 4 1400m on the turf long course E, carrying only 51kgs. She has just struggled a little in Class 4 company and needs to lift against this field of 12 runners.

11.50 p.m. R4 1 HIDDEN PROMISE - App R Zawari (a2); Mark Walker lines up two runners in this Class 4 1700m on the polytrack. The first jumps from gate six and carries 56.5kgs thanks to the apprentice claim. Raced by Fortuna Syndicators, this son of Postponed is in super form (4-1-3-1-5) and has been a model of consistency - he just over-raced slightly so is on the seven day back up - a top five chance.

11.50 p.m. R4 4 NORTHERN KNIGHT - Shafiq Rizuan; the second for the stable in this S$60,000 event wears the colours of the Raffles' Racing team and unfortunately has copped the outside draw (12 of 12). With 57.5kgs assigned, he was a solid third two starts back - a son of Sir Percy, he faces 11 opponents and, an unpredictable type, he is also on the seven day back up. With some gear changes tonight including blinker pacifiers off and ear muffs on, he needs to improve or he will do his future racing in Malaysia.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 5 SHE'S THE ONE - Ismail Azhar; a widish draw (8) in this 12-strong field for the Class 5  over 1800m on the turf long course E where the Murtajill mare will carry 57.5kgs. Her form of late has been sound, with two runner up placings from her last three appearances - with this good form, and stepping up to the 1800m, she rates a top four chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 6 VIVIANO - Craig Grylls; the final runner tonight squares off against only eight other runners in the Kranji Stakes A over 1200m on the turf long course E. Another for the Raffles' Racing team, this 6YO breaks from the outside stall and will carry 53.5kgs with the Kiwi rider up in the S$125,000 event. A son of Keeper, he is in very strong company these days but is as honest as the day is long - top five chance.
