Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, Te Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 77 winners - including a winning treble last Sunday - continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership, leading by 24 wins.

Friday 6 October

11.50 p.m. R1 7 OBSTACLES FREE - App N Hanafi (a4); two for trainer Mark Walker in the first tonight, the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack, where this son of Coats Choice draws the ace and with the apprentice aboard, has the maximum 4kg claim, dropping to 52kgs. This 4YO rates a top four chance with the maximum apprentice allowance.

11.50 p.m. R1 11 LUCKY BOY - Ismail Azhar; the second for the stable draws eight of 12 and will carry 53.5kgs. This five year old has been running solid races with a recent 2-4-5 form line and in the S$35,000 first of the night. He suits the step back in distance - a top four chance.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R2 7 LIM'S RHYTHM - App R Zawari (a2); in this S$75,000 Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA over 1100m on the polytrack, the claim comes into play again with now 55kgs on his back thanks to the season's joint leading (Te Akau) apprentice's allowance. Breaking from gate eight in a field of 11, he is having his first start and will take benefit from the experience.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R3 8 HAYTHAM - Oscar Chavez; a handy draw (4) for this 4YO in the Class 4 1100m on the polytrack, where he carries only 52kgs. Another coming in with solid performances to his credit (4-5-4), he has had a wind operation - a place chance in this 11-strong field.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R4 7 DISCRETELY RED - Shafiq Rizuan; this Kiwi owned son of Redwood draws well (2) for the Maiden 1400m on the turf short course C where he is assigned 56.5kgs. A lovely staying type of horse in the making, tonight is start four in Singapore for the 4YO where he has twice been placed already - he trialled well in blinkers last week and wears them tonight - top four chance in this line up of 13 starters.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R5 5 KASHAN - Oscar Chavez; improving all the time with a second and third at his last two starts, he draws eight, carries 56kg and faces 11 opponents in the Class 5 1200m on the polytrack. He will be better over further but fresh up could be a surprise package.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 1 ECLAIR CHOICE - App R Zawari (a2); two runners to complete the night's racing in this Open Benchmark 83 over 1100m on the polytrack. Both draw awkwardly, this 6YO one from the outside in the field of 10. Carrying 55kgs with the claim, the trainer is still learning about the horse - he had good Australian form but has had two trainers in Singapore and been disappointing - hoping to improve him.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 6 MIGHTY CONQUEROR - Craig Grylls; this 5YO son of Patapan cops the outside draw (10 of 10) but carries only 53.5kgs. His form line has been sublime (2-1-1-2) and he is in super form - top four chance.
