Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview

The 2015 Champion Singapore Trainer and Trainers' Premiership winner, the Akau's Mark Walker (who finished third on the 2016 Trainers' Premiership) has trained 77 winners - and continues to dominate the Trainers' Premiership, leading by 24 wins.


Friday 13 October

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R2 3 BLACK QUAIL - Shafiq Rizuan; two for trainer Mark Walker in the this Initiation 4YO+Below WFA 1200m on the turf short course E. Second start tonight for this 4YO son of Coats Choice who has drawn the rank outside (12 of 12) and carries 57.5kgs. Unfortunately with the draw and the rail right out, he will need to go back - place chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R2 12 HALLELUJAH - App CK Ng (a3); the second for the stable draws slightly better (10) but with the claim carries a featherweight of just 47.5kgs. This 3YO daughter of Burgundy is having her third Singapore start but has also drawn wide so will have to go back and be ridden for luck - place chance.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R3 1 NORTHERN NIGHT - Vlad Duric; in this S$60,000 Class 4 1700m on the polytrack, he draws 7 of 12 and carries top weight of 58kgs but has the services of the leading Singapore rider Vlad Duric - with whom Mark Walker has formed a superb relationship. He comes off the back of a good second placing but is an unpredictable horse - place chance.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R4 3 O'REILLY STAR - Shafiq Rizuan; another unfortunate draw (12 of 12) for this son of O'Reilly in the Open Maiden WFA 1600m on the turf short course E where he carries 57.5kgs. In this field of 12, this 4YO has had so many frustrations with constant wide barrier draws - there is a long run down the back straight so although drawn wide this time again, the intention is to go forward - each way chance.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R6 1 CLUTHA LAD - Vlad Duric; the Kiwi owned son of Thorn Park draws well (4 of 12) for the Class 5 1800m on the polytrack where he carries 59kgs. This 8YO is an older horse now but was a bit unlucky last start - each way chance.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R7 10 PURE JUSTICE - App CK Ng (a3); the final runner for the stable will jump from gate nine in the 12 strong Class 3 1200m on the polytrack and has apprentice weight relief down to 49.5kgs. He probably needs to find his way back to Class 4 to again be in the winners' circle.
