Te Akau Singapore Friday Preview
11 May, 2018
Te Akau horses racing at Kranji racecourse in Singapore, where 2015 and 2017 Premiership winning trainer Mark Walker has recorded 21 wins since 1 January. He has also trained 23 runners up and 21 third placegetters.
Friday 11 May - note there is no Sunday meeting at Kranji this weekend -
10.20 p.m. R1 5 VENUS DE MILO - App Noorman Hanafi (a4); the first runner for the stable this evening has drawn eight of 12 on the turf long course E in this S$20,000 Class 5 1400m where she drops to 55kgs with the maximum apprentice claim. This 3YO filly has been a little disappointing and needs to improve.
10.20 p.m. R1 BIG REGARDS - TBA; this son of Darci Brahma sits second on the ballot and looks unlikely to make the field - drawn 12 from 12 with 55kgs.
10.50 p.m. R2 3 GRIDIRON - App Razali Zawari (a1); two runners in this Restricted Maiden 2&3YO WFA 1200m on the turf long course E with this 3YO drawing out at nine and carrying 56kgs with the claim. Nothing went right for him from a wide draw on debut a fortnight ago but he is better than that. Unfortunately he again cops an awkward draw and will be positively ridden in an attempt to overcome that - an improver.
10.50 p.m. R2 6 BAN THE DOUBT - Vlad Duric; this filly is having her fourth start in the S$85,000 event where she has drawn better (2 of 12) and is carded with 55.5kgs with the leading rider engaged. A 3YO daughter of Not A Single Doubt, she has placed in two of her three career starts and with her handy draw - a top four chance.
11.20 p.m. R3 9 SUCCESS COME TRUE - App Mohamad Firdaus (a1); another race with two stable representatives is the Class 4 Non-Premier 1100m on the polytrack. In this field of 12 starters, the first runner for Mark Walker has unfortunately copped the outside draw but with the claim only is weighted with 49.5kgs. A 4YO by Alamosa, he was a winner three starts ago but will be more competitive when he returns to Class 5 company.
11.20 p.m. R3 11 KASHAN - App Choon Kiat Ng (a3); the second runner for the stable in this S$45,000 event fares little better, drawing one from the outside (11) but with the apprentice aboard, will drop to a featherweight of 47kgs. His last five starts have underlined his ability (3-1-5-2-1) however this 6YO is another that will make more impact when he too returns to Class 5.
11.50 p.m. R4 8 SACRED SEA - App Razali Zawari (a1); another with the misfortune of a wide draw tonight (12 of 12), this 5YO is having his third start in the S$60,000 Class 4 Premier 1400m on the turf long course E where he is weighted with 55kgs (with the claim). A Sea the Stars gelding raced by Raffles Racing, he has a tough draw to combat and probably needs an easier grade.
12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 1 MAJOR TOM - App Razali Zawari (a1); another stable duo contests the Class 3 1000m on the polytrack with the first candidate jumping from gate six and assigned 56kgs. A son of multi-time Champion Singapore Sire Darci Brahma, raced by the Fortuna team, this 5YO could surprise in a fresh-up state.
12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 12 SACRED GALAXY - App Mohamad Firdaus (a1); the second stable runner in this field of 12 draws barrier eight and, resuming here, will carry just 52kgs thanks to the apprentice engagement in the S$80,0000 affair. A 5YO by the recently deceased sire Flying Spur, he has a 1-4-5-3 form line however he too will play a larger part when he returns to Class 4 company.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 4 ELITE POWER - Craig Grylls; to complete the evening, three starters for the stable in the Class 3 1000m on the polytrack where the first draws barrier nine and carries 54.5kgs with the Kiwi rider up. A 4YO by Sakhee's Secret, he bled last time but is a nice galloper - top four prospect.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 10 HIDDEN PROMISE - App Noorman Hanafi (a4); bringing the maximum apprentice allowance in to play in this S$80,000 race sees the second stable rep. carry just 48kgs and bounce from gate two. A runner for the Fortuna team, this 5YO will better make his presence felt when he returns to the Class 4 grade.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 12 LIM'S REFORM - App Choon Kiat Ng (a3); the final of the Mark Walker trio in this 12 strong field will bounce from the 11 barrier and he too drops weight-wise with an apprentice assigned, down to 48.5kgs. Now a 6YO by O'Reilly, his form has been indifferent of late and too will benefit from a return to Class 4.
